Oh dear, you're going to trade down to 1/4" phono plugs?

I agree with KBD. The Neutrik speakons aren’t very expensive and they lock, so they won’t pull out if someone trips on a cable.

For what I'm doing, it ain't gonna' make any difference. To tell the truth, if somebody's going to get tangled up in my speaker wires, I'd *rather* they just came unplugged than turn over an amp rack.

Thanks anyway fellas, but I'm done... at this point, a plain old speaker cable would suit me just fine. The only reason I even have these is that my power-amp has speakon outputs. It also has banana plugs. I really don't care; so long as the signal gets from amp to speaker.

Does the cab have bi-amp capabilities? If you use the banana plug option, are you reducing functionality?

Hey, while we're talking about Speakon connectors...I've found that it's well worth the trouble to buy a PoziDrive #1 screwdriver. Fits those little screw heads w-a-y more securely than a small Phillips, so you can snug down those wire clamps much better.

I've found lots of other uses for the PoziDrive #1 around the house. Like, the small wood screws on kitchen cabinet door hinges.

Phillips head screwdrivers don't fit properly on screws with PoziDrive heads.

Correct, this is not a Neutrik brand connector, which I'm sure is of superior quality. That said, it isn't broken - the housing just unscrewed while I was rolling it up, allowing the wires to disengage from their terminals.

The other end of this cable (which goes to the speaker) is a male 1/4" mono plug. These speakers are set up for bi-amped inputs, but I don't use them - only the parallel inputs.

So it sounds like I should connect the red and white wires to 1+ and 1-... which one to which?

The Neutriks Speakon connectors are quite robust. +1 and -1 are correct. It doesn't matter red, white, to hot as long as they are wired the same on the other end. (if the cable colors are red and white my default is to Red for hot (+), if white and black White for hot (+). Just need to make sure they the same color goes to + and - on the other end. And, although the Speakon's are robust, the connections are not. I've seen many pull apart when the set screws are used. It's a poor design and there are several variations all of which suck, just some more than others. Take out the screws and put some paste flux on the cable end, insert it and solder through the screw hole and you will not have a problem. It is not cool at all when they loose continuity on a gig.
