Speakon Question

My local music store has things in alphabetical arrangement.Found them just in time next to the "Do it yourself" flat wound string files.
It's a safety issue. Pull the 1/4" jack out of the plug on the speaker box while it's still under load from a powerful amp and touch the jack on the way out. Your heart is going to get a nasty surprise.

After a quick search, I'm finding current ratings for the 1/4" jack ranging from 0.25 A to 5 A. SpeakON connectors have a minimum rating of 30 A. Just from that, I would go with SpeakON everywhere (for amp/cab).
OK, now let me try to do some math. Uh...200 W (RMS) into 4 ohms is about 7 A. (assuming my calculator is working correctly.) Yeah, I would use SpeakON for every power connection.
So, if a left-handed person plays a re-strung right-handed bass, should he use left or right-handed strings

There is a caveat to using Speakon to 1/4" phone connectors. Many of the new "micro" amps use two power amps permanently connected in a BTL, Bridge TransformerLess, configuration. The same caveat also applies equally to any stereo power amp used in bridge mode. Each power amps output is connected to the load but at a polarity opposite to each other. This means that both the tip AND the metal sleeve/barrel of the phone plug are hot with respect to ground and TWICE as hot to each other. if either connect with a grounded object such as guitar/mic cables, stage lighting and so on then a channel is shorted out. When you unplug the cabinet either deliberately or by accident, which is what our brother from Down Under was implying, both channels are shorted to each other momentarily. if you happen to hold that plug, you can and will get a severe shock if the amp is producing a signal. You can ask GB's AgedHorse about that. It's how he got the worst shock of his life - his words.

Right hand string but put on backwards.
Actually quite a few Southpaws string their "upside down" basses as we would a righthand bass. In a way it kinda makes sense. In a time of need, it's hard to find a lefty bass.
