The fender jazz body was a rescue from a Pismo campfire "FENDER PARTS SECOND" FPS.
Turn-it-up...
The pickup is loaded with slugs, a magnet will rotate under the pickup and will float (kinda like on a condenser mic mount)
Benefit of on the fly movement... and reduce coupling.
The finger ramp will be loaded with two drum triggers
Momentary arcade button will have a tone cap
No potentiometers on this build the rotating the magnet will provide differences in volumes

With a lack of proper tools and work space I'm going to need to be extra creative to pull this off.
When I lived in an apartment with my wife and young child many years ago, I worked on the balcony or in the storeroom. I had a 16"x24" 3/4" plywood piece that I clamped to a table for a workbench, and I bought one of those tiny shopvacs to ensure cleanup was good.
There is an amazing community right here, anything you're wondering about, shoot it past these folks and the ideas will be forthcoming.
That way, when you do it the way you originally planned, at least you know you ran it by a lot of others first.

Before I had a garage I did a lot of work on dressers, folding picnic tables and desks, then made a "short bench" from scrap lumber, then got a Workmate. Total game changer, that one.

I too have limited tools. It's always a fun challenge to use tools not necessarily made for a specific task and end up with same results.
Excited to see the floating pickup concept.
Kinda hit a of couple snags in the design process of the pick up
I want to use a PAF pickup cover to kinda bring the pickup into one piece some how ?
Just ordered some different sized orthodontic rubber bands
So the rotating magnet and pickup under one cover, nice. I guess the big challenge is to get it to all fit in the PAF cover. It looks like the bearing/bracket might be a bit too big, would you have to modify that? It sounds like you have a handle on things, you'll get it figured out. I never would of thought of a floating pickup let alone do it.

I've made a few pickups with the rotating magnet and when you turn the magnet kinda makes some noise
And what better way to loose the noise than to decouple the pickup entirely
If you look at most if not all pickups , and how they are mounted it seems they all try to decouple some what
The pillow blocks just might be little too robust ?

hogged out a brass rod to fit the magnet , brass is diamagnetic

Now if you could mount a ceramic magnet on one side and alnico opposite to it, you could in theory also change the tone of the pickup.

Did that with alnico 2 and alnico 5 it was ok , trying to less complicate the design.
I'm hoping the brass will give it more of a desirable effect
