Why do we use base 10 when we only have 8 fingers

Sugar Creek, Wisc
Might as well do this

Solid lightly figured Walnut
Probably a roasted flamed maple neck with ebony FB

Ok....just a little more before I got to bed

The template I used to cut out the body is for a 5 string bass.
I'll be trimming away the excess once I get the neck pocket established.
To make it easy on myself, I'm making this a bolt on

Hogged out the neck pocket

Then I routed out the rest

Love it, love it, love it! :)

Decided not to go with the Seymour Duncan Ripper replacement pickups or recreate the harness though? Oh well. Can’t have every fantasy of mine fulfilled I suppose.

Looks really (as in really really) good. Far classier than even the real deal IMO. And I own two of those.

Can’t wait to see the finished bass.

We put big singles in my son's headless bass. I loooooooove the way that thing sounds. To the point that I find myself getting jealous and wishing I'd put something else in that bass and kept the big singles for myself. Guess I'll have to get another set some day...

The Ripper wiring was, um, innovative for its time. I suppose.

But Big Singles through an ACG? Oh hell yes!! :hyper::bassist::hyper::bassist:

I was going to ask you what you think about this combo, but I guess I don't have to now.

I bought this preamp years ago from a fellow TB'r. At that point in time I was transitioning from active to passive with respect to the electronics. I just never got around to making a build with this preamp in mind. So late in the day yesterday, I just went for it.

I have to laugh a bit because this build is the original design intent for the last Winter Build off. The body here is 1.5" thick. Being this is solid walnut, and a larger size, I need to do all I can to reduce the weight. Providing for a large control cavity to account for the preamp will go to the weight reduction.

Cheers

Theyre very popular, and they’ve been around for a while, so keep an eye on the Classifieds, or better yet, set up a Keyword Alert so you can jump on them!

Haha! Yep, I’m a fan. Filter EQs are a very different beast, and it’ll take some time to wrap your brain around how they work. But there’s nothing better for chameleon-like flexibility.

This is what I am counting on, and also why I'll be putting an ebony FB on this. It will only go to enhance the tonal capabilities

@Scoops has a theme going - there’s the Wallybird, Walter Ardie, and maybe some others - hey Scoops, how about a family portrait? :hyper:

Man I can't get anything over on you guys can I?
