Update

I routed the TR slot in the neck.

Then I glued on a drawing of the headstock which I'll use to drill the tuner holes, cut the slot, and give the shape to the headstock (all later operations)

Then I cut out the outline with the band saw. I'll use my Jazz bass neck template to cut out most of the neck. After I took the pic I saw that my template was messed up so I took other steps to make sure I didn't use that porttion of the template. I need to make a new template.

More Updates

I drilled holes in my neck and mounted my threaded inserts. I at times have problems with getting inserts in straight. To fix that I drill a hole just slightly larger than the insert into a piece of wood, and use that as a guide

Also, got a new batch of threaded inserts and I have to countersink em

Then I cut off the excess at the neck pocket and Mounted the neck to check for fit.

One downside that I think I'll be able to recover from. I had a chip out on the neck, Hoping this will go away when I profile the neck. It will be close

Not much to show here now, but I do have one little update

Got the back sanded to 220, and have the control cover doing the magnet thing.

Also decided to go with black hardware. (no pics yet)

Small update

Made a Bartolini BC pup routing template, and put in pup routes.

I like the black hardware better already. I have some black hipshot clovers, and I've ordered some black John East knobs.

Update

I routed the nut slot and glued the FB down

I was originally thinking I'd do the head stock ala Fender, but the more I think about it I'll be putting in an angled head stock. I might be lucky to get 4 degrees, so if that doesn't give me a good enough break angle, I'll have room to put in string trees

So I now just sanded in the first coat of oil. I'll be taking off the goop in about 15 minutes.

On a different note, unlike other roasted maple I've worked om before, this piece seems very prone to chipping out
