Then I started to profile the neck. First I used a power drill with an 80 grit sanding disc attachment. I about 2/3's done on this side
Then I use my Iwasaki file to smooth out the neck

I think the thing I really like about roasted wood is that it take less time to carve a neck.
I have about 45 minutes into shaping this. If the wood were not roasted, I'd be at it with a bastard for the next week or two until I got the flame flattened out. Not quite done shaping. Grain is wet for appearance

I really like the heel transition into the body
I have to chuckle at this a bit. Last time you said that about one of my builds, I changed the heel transition while you were probably writing the post
I'll be refining what I have, but I do almost have a baseball bat profile on this.
I was referring to the way you've cut the body. The point at the neck joint, and the way the lower cutaway swoops up to meet the point, allowing the thumb to slide up and avoiding the square block you often see on bolt-on necks.I have to chuckle at this a bit. Sorry if this has been covered already; where did you source your neck screw inserts?
The ones I used came from McMaster (sorta my go-to for hardware) and are slotted for a proprietary driver for installation. I would prefer a hex-driver for installation.
Also, that neck looks amazing!

Let me speak to this a little more. Yes, I will be saving some time. Usually on non roasted flame of this nature, I have to cut the profile, and wait for a few days, and then take a bastard to it to smooth out the flame that rises. Repeat as required. I haven't had to do that with this neck. I profiled it out earlier this week, and the grain isn't doing what non roasted flame does. So yes, I am saving that time.
Proof is when I do another roasted flame maple neck.
