Special power chords for your amp improves sound?

For that video , a good way to do a "just" comparison would have been to split the bass signal , feed two exact brand new amps one with the magical cord and the other with the cord supplied with the amp.
Record both , same mike , same pre gain structure etc….

or at the very least not let the player know which cable was plugged in while doing the tests.

Saw this on facebook went to their site and there is a whole clip of famous people who use this special power cable for your amp to improve sound. Has anybody used this? Is it true can you really notice a difference? Just wondering let me know

I'm sure it's every bit as good as any $6 power cord.

That's what I've always thought, too. It's so over the top, I have to think the people running it might just be trying to see who's foolish enough to take it seriously. :D

Do a Google search for "Machina Dynamica" .

This guy has all kinds of totally outlandish 'devices and tweaks' which are laughable and unbelievable, but apparently some people have taken him seriously.

Apparently even the bottom of the gene pool has some disposable income.

It looks like he cups his right hand near the volume knob while the cord is switched. Possibly to turn the volume from 95% to full on? The video has an edit/closeup of the cord change; just like Criss Angel right at the moment of his "magic". I was trying to see if the volume knob was moved, or the mic on the speaker was moved.

The power cord that came with my GK700rbII is pretty slim, and says 18awg on it. Is it big enough for the potentially 480 watts it can produce?

According to the GK data sheet, your amp has a full power consumption of 994W. At 120V, that's a little over 8 amps. 18AWG copper wire is rated up to 16 amps (http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm), so you're fine for current carrying capacity. A 6ft 18AWG copper wire cord pulling 8 amps will have a voltage drop of a little more than 0.6 volts. So your amp will "see" 119.4 volts instead of 120V at full power consumption. Not enough to worry about. And that's at full power consumption which the vast majority of the time you will not be at. Not to mention that 120V line power is rarely at 120V anyway (my house is usually around 117 or 118, for instance). Your cord is fine.

Thank you! I feel relieved. It didn't make sense that GK would send out an amp with an inadequite cord. I went to Loews last weekend looking for a thicker cord before my gig that night, but couldn't find one. I actually like the thinner cord, it's more flexible, and takes strain off the connect point on the amp.

not me man!

i gotta have that thicker 16 or even 14 gauge cable so i don't get any loss when i'm plugged into that power strip plugged into that other power strip plugged into that kinked-up orange extension cord plugged into that outlet under the pinball machine :p
