George Felise worked as the head of special finishes at Kramer. He's a genius artist and did many iconic guitar and bass custom paint jobs during Kramer's heyday. After Kramer, he'd continue to work with Stuart on such basses as Rex Brown's flamed signature bass.

George's younger brother Greg used to go to the Kramer/Spector workshop as a teenager and he got to know Stuart really well. For the last decade, besides being an endorsed Spector Artist, Greg Felise helps man the NAMM Booth for Spector. He's "family".

In 1996 Greg asked Stuart for a very special, one-of-a-kind B.O.B. bass. With an AAAA Tube Quilt top and crown inlays, it is the ONLY B.O.B. made with crown neck inlays. Mr. Jimmy Eppard did the inlays by hand as a favor for the young Mr. Felise.

Greg and his two brothers own several one-of-kind or very rare Spector bases. Some from Kramer, others from the SSD years. And after becoming good friends with all three brothers I've told them, "Don't you ever think about selling any of these without calling me". Greg talked with Stuart and wanted to get a new modern Spector and asked if Stuart would be offended if he sold his B.O.B. to me, which between his sick Kramer NS-2 and his NS-6XL, the first of the modern NS-6XL's made, the B.O.B. never gets played. And Stuart said he'd love for me to have that bass.

So! It's paid for and on it's way. It'll arrive the day before I head to NAMM where it WILL come with me for photos with myself and Stuart.

Unlike the NS bass which is a mix of Ned Steinberger and Stuart's design efforts, this bass is 100% Stuart. A completely original design and concept. Even with the deep pocket insert he designed for this particular model.

This bass is also considered by many of us who know Stuart to be the Pre-Coda - Coda bass. It was the first Spector since Brooklyn to move the design aesthetic back towards a traditional design.

This bass is an important historical footnote in the evolution of the company.

I'm very proud and honored to be the 2nd owner of this bass. I can tell you now I'll be playing this one a lot.

Oh... and about the funky truss rod cover. Greg is sending me the original SSD cover with the one in the photo below.

The one in the photo below is a one-of-a-kind experimental cover that glows in the dark. LOL.

Sam didn't just help me buy a bass. He helped me buy the best bass I ever owned even though there have been some more money this one is hands down my best, for me!!!!

I'm a huge J bass fan and it would kill if Spector still made these. The Coda is a great bass and I would love to own one, but add a 5th string to this one and it would be the perfect Spector. :)

Somewhat OT:

I know I should probably be asking this in the amps section but since so many of you have been showing the Ampeg love I figured I'd ask.

I've been a long time Eden user and while I like the amp, I think I'm getting tired of the solid state sound. I'm not very knowledgeable about the Ampeg line, so I'm curious as to what rig would be best for me. I'd love to still have a rackmount bass head if possible, but I wasn't sure if any of the SVT Pro rack heads match the sound of something like an SVT-CL.

Also, I see many have the 810 cab. I think that might be a bit much for me. I've been considering the 610HLF. What heads would that be a good match for?

bunkaroo, when I first bought my Euro 4, I was playing through an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and Eden 410. It sounded great, and it seemed to me to be a bit more of a hi-fi sound than I have now. I don't think it would be the same tone as a CL, but it would be in the general area. For that tone, you'd probably be looking at an all tube signal, so either a CL, VR, or SVT 2 Pro. I'd look at Ebay or the classifieds on deals on these. I think they're overpriced new, especially considering they're made overseas now. And the 610 sounds great! I didn't know what amp the guy was using, but the 610 he had had a very full, deep sound. FWIW, I did not like the mix of a class D "lite" amplifiers and Spectors, or at least didn't like the Genz Shuttle 9 with it. I still have it as a practice amp, but it's a piece of gear I wouldn't mind moving for something else, honestly.

A few years ago I had a Eden rig. The head was a WT 600, it was a pretty powerful amp with a very nice eq. I plugged it into a Ampeg 810 a couple of times and I was amazed by how much it sounded like a SVT (compared side by wide with a SVT). I really liked it.

I don't know what amp you have, but I would suggest trying it with a 610. It might be great.

If you go for a new amp. I like the SVT II or the SVT IV. I have a lot of experience with the SVT III and I'm never impressed (for what I like). I've never tried the SVT 7, I'd bet it's pretty good.

I like the fretboard cleaner system that dunlop sells. It made my old NS 2a fretboard and frets feel like new.

I will come forward and say that this is probably me. "Trying to talk into a Spector" is a bit of an under-statement though. He grabbed me by the neck and said "buy a &#%@* Spector today!!!"

Ok, he really didn't do that but it really sounded funny saying that and he really did give it the 'ole college try. Don't worry though, I will be buying soon enough.

Euro 5LX. AFAIK the Euro 5's (pre LX) were the ones without the inlays. I've been eying an identical Euro 5 to my Euro 5LX except it wouldn't have the inlays. I do love this bass though, I still get that new bass smile every single time I power on my amp and hit the low B. You really can't go wrong with a Spector!
