He's been playing since 1976, first amp he had was an Ampeg, then throughout his professional career (he's played and toured extensively) he tried endless types of amps, cabs and basses.
During the last few years he's been endorsed by Orange and so he's been playing their amps and has been quite happy. BUT.....He recently had a gig where he played an Ampeg SVT classic with an 810. While rehearsing for the show, he said he felt as though he came full circle, he's "back home". He had an interesting analogy where he said that playing Ampeg again was like coming home after years away and eating your mothers cooking again. :)

Heavy rig...I don't mind. We all help move gear around in the band.

I think I'm about 95% sure I'm switching to ampeg. :)
I'm still gonna swap my TP out for the trim pot version, and see if that makes a difference, but I really did enjoy the svt 4 pro. Looks like my SWR rig will be on CL soon :)

I saw something about that in the interview with him in the recent issue of Bass Player magazine. I thought that was really cool because I've always thought Images and Words was his best tone... and I've always thought Dream Theater songs would sound so much better if you hear the bass a bit better (i.e. he used a Spector).

Hello I'm new here, and I need your help in figuring out why my spector legend 5 custom model emits a poorly sound when I'm recording a bass track. I am using an M-Box processor by digidesing with the pro tools program, and for some reason my bass doesn’t sound as good as when I plug it and play it through my Ampeg SVT-350H and my Ampeg SVT-610HLF. After that I switched the spector and plugged in the M-Box my fender jazz bass highway one model, and it sounded fantastic.
Like they say; a great instrument is one that sounds great at raw without altering its EQ. Personally, I prefer active over passive bass sound for my style, and that spector bass gives me that sound and I don’t change it for anything the world. But I’m frustrated that my fender sounds better in recording than my spector. Is there something wrong with my recording gear or with my bass?

Really? Can you post the link? I might buy it if the price is right. It sounded really good through that cab. I'll still have to get the 8x10 too though :)

No its not a Legend Custom, those have set-necks. Its an earlier Legend Classic, they made them with that pickup configuration for a short time. One of my Buds has that exact same bass.

Hi Thundar !

Did you play your buddy bass ? If yes, how does the bass sound cause i'm planning to get this legend as my 1st Spector :hyper:
