Lol , it quoted the map , thought we were sharing my goof :) anyway , the 2a blows the Rex away in tone and output . So I've been using it . Been thinking about selling one or both and getting another euro .

Problem is , I've only seen 2 other red Rex's , one 4 , one 5 .

I know JPS was posting about flats on the Spector, has anyone found flats that actually have sustain even close to that of rounds? I love the sound of flats on a really aggressive bass, as it cuts off the harsh end of the tonal spectrum and gives it a really good mid-bump. HOWEVER I play songs where on occaision there are notes I hold for a second or a few seconds and with flats it just drops off so fast it sounds empty, so I use rounds.

If they ever invent flats with good sustain I'd use them all the time.

Yeah I have a nice camera but I don't have Internet at home so that I can upload pics,other than my iPhone. :(
I'd have to download pics from nice camera to my laptop, take my laptop some place that has free wi-fi to upload on Internet.
I'll eventually take good pics and do it the long way. :hmm:

If one of the guys/gals here can't help you then go to YouTube. That's where I usually go to listen to Spector bass tone differences.

Bass...my GHS Precision SS FW's have sustain forever! No matter if it's my bolt-on Legend 4 or my NT Forte 4...all of my Spectors I've put them on have awesome sustain! Give EM a try!

Here is a sound clip comparison of the Tonepump wired at 9 volts and at 18 volts and also the OBP2.

1- Tonepump 9volts 50% Trim
2- Tonepumo 18volts 40% Trim

I have a set of those on an old P-bass and they don't really sustain all that much, so maybe its just the bass. They do sound great though, my favorite flats so far (chromes are 2nd). Perhaps I will buy a new set and try them on teh Spector and see how they work.

I like the high end better on the OBP but like the low end better on the tonepump.

Can't hear any difference between the 18 and 9v preamps. Even through my studio monitor headphones. Too subtle for me to notice.

I like the 9 volt Tonepump at 50%

After listening to it twice...the 18V is fuller sounding by a notch vs 9V.
But I like the OBP-2 sound better! More articulent, can hear each note clearly better but still has growl to it.

I vote TonePump 9volts 50%trim, the 18v looses some of the growl

the obp2 seems a little gutless, but I think it would mix well live

You can dial the guts into the OBP-2. No slant againtSam by no means, he's an amazing bassist! Better than me by a million miles...but that was one persons settings. Another persons would sound differently. I wish I had an interface I'd record some sound clips for you all to hear. Because my Forte 4 sounds a lot different than that sound clip.
