SPECTOR® Club - Part 25

I'm probably never buying used from GC again. I ordered an SVT-III pro on Dec 28th, I didn't get it until Jan 14th, which was understandable due to holidays. But they sent me the wrong wrong, a newer Vietnamese one Vs the vintage USA one. Anyways, they shipped the other amp out 2 days later after a huge misunderstanding. The costumer service was great, BUT, the amp needed Biasing, which was fine, only $40. But I later found out that it needed new Biasing things to run at 100% volume (at about 75-80% now) so that's another $200 down the road. They lied and said it worked great. It's missing a knob and the graphic EQ and handle was loose. The tone was too good to take it back, so i guess I'm keeping it forever. :)
But all in all, I guess I learned my lesson.

I might be wrong, but isn't biasing for tube amps? The SVT III is a solid state amp with a tube preamp so I don't know that it would need biasing. Am I wrong about this someone who knows more than I do? Cue Phat in 5,4,3,2...

It has driver tubes. I think something like the MOSFET power needed biasing or something. It's fixed now and sounds killer with my CRFM.

The svt 3 uses a pot to bias the gate voltage of the mosfets. Really kind of unnecessary , but they do it and its the biggest issue for those heads. Most circuits like that use a low tolerance resistor instead of a pot to keep the voltage stable.

yup hardware is a dead give away. The ns-2000 basses all had black hardware as far as I've seen

I stand corrected the ns2002B had chrome hardware too so it could be and it has the older TRC..

The one they show on the Spector site has chrome hardware.

GC took a deposit to hold a bass for me once. Which is refundable. The only thing is, you have to be at the store to get your refund.

They can take a deposit over the phone, but I would have to travel 300 miles to get the refund. ***?

Sorry haven't posted much, been jammin on the new Forte. :D

No worries brother! I didn't even notice. I spent over 25 yrs. in the military, I'm pretty thick skinned. :) We're good!

Wow...that's not a good experience at all! :scowl:
Fortunately the only bad experience that I've had with GC was them taking so long to ship my SVT810e. I could've drove 4 hours south of where I was at Christmas time to pick it up and been faster but not for the shipping charge though. It took a couple of weeks longer than quoted but with the holidays and all... I won't let it deter me from future business. I've had stellar business with them up to that point. :bassist: I totally understand where you're coming from though. What a nightmare! :ninja:

Yep...I knew it wasn't a DLX model as I've had a DLX but thought the pricing is better than the rest that's on there now anyways. :) I agree...their pricing has gone through the roof lately!:rollno:

Plus this one doesn't have that flat body top as the newer Performers. The edges look smooth/rounded.

That was really crappie of GC not to tell you ahead of time with their refund policy. :scowl:
