SPECTOR® Club - Part 26

I've got one for you guys:
I was listening to Alex Webster's project, Blotted Science, and realized that he gets an AMAZING tone out of his (what I'm presuming is a..) Euro 5 LX.
What do you guys think he's doing to coax that tone out of this bass?

I'm assuming it's a Euro 5LX since that's what I've seen him playing the most, but I could be wrong.

Wow! I didn't think it was possible for it to look any cooler, but that bass looks even better than I pictured!

He uses a Euro 5LX but instead of the Tonepump, he uses an 18V EMG BQC system.

Oooooh! That's going to be stunningly eye popping gorgeous!so we ordered one week apart then. Yeah NAMM has a way of stopping all work at the shop. Lol

Thanks all. The funny thing was, I wanted to at least try and smile for the picture but I was so afraid I would either drop it or bump into something, that was the best I could muster up, LOL.

The strange thing is, I just cannot stop looking at this bass. I haven't even played it much because I keep stopping to look at it which probably sounds totally odd. It's definitely a different feel than my Euro 5LX. The neck is thicker but that doesn't make it any more difficult to play. In fact, it feels more comfortable in my hands so i can fly around the neck and actually look like I know what I am doing :D I have never seen or played a bass with action this low either so it's just amazing.

It's also a very different sound since I am so used to the Tonepump. The first thing I told myself was "I am not getting rid of this Euro 5" since I love the sound of that as well. I need to play with the pre a bit more to check out the different sounds but so far, I am loving it. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to play some more.

It's a more figured 'scooped' looking quilt. JPS's Black Pearl is tube as well as Todd Cooke's ultra amber/BEM NS-2. In fact, it's Todd's that made me go with the ultra amber. JPS did a mock up using Todd's bass body and a pau ferro neck. I'll dig it up and repost it.

Tube Quilt comes from a special Maple only found in the Pacific Northwest.
It's much more defined and the figuring looks like tubes or waves.

The bass on the left in Ultra Amber is AAAA Tube Quilt.
The bass on the right in Black Cherry is standard AAAA Quilt.

Yes. The trance... I honestly looked at The Black Pearl for over an hour before attempting to play the first note on her. You're not the first. Many people have told me that they'll just stare at their new USA Spector for a while before touching it. LOL. You're been entranced. That's all.

Richer, deeper, broader, warmer... Everyone knows I'm a fan of the TonePump... but to me the original Haz is the ticket. The TonePump is designed to sound like the Haz. But only the Haz is the Haz.

And I get to thinking that I prefer the 9v in The Black Pearl over the 18v in the NS-4, then I A/B them and man... the NS-4 sounds so rich and warm. And you've got the exact same setup, just you've got a B string.
