OK fellow Spector owners...I currently have 2 bergantino Hs210's and have a Streamliner 900.....sounds ok but miss the growl of a SVT. I was looking to get a 8/10 but guitarist says it can't fit in trailer. So basically I am going to stick with the cab setup and avoid ******** from him...Is it worth getting the Ampeg SVT Vr???....I know paired with a 8/10 it will sound killer...... but with the (2) bergantino hs210's???....Thanks!!

That's a nice rig!
SVT's get kinda tricky with ported cabs. Most people like pairing them with sealed cabs for the punchiness and even response.
I've got my CL paird with an Epifani UL2 212, which is a pretty odd combination.
I think if you turn down/off the tweeters, then you would be fine with the VR. What I've heard most people complain about when it comes to pairing SVT's with ported cabs is that the bass response becomes hard to handle and the lows become muddy. Another good idea would be to invest in a sealed 410 cab that can handle the 4 ohm load and the watts coming from the VR. This is what I'm considering since I don't need a fridge.
As far as the VR being worth it...I'd say any all-tube Ampeg is definitely worth it!

Well if you like the 810 but it won't fit and you like Bergantino try the NV610

This... I wouldn't bail the idea of grabbing a new cab.... 410 610 412 lol. Honestly I would try to rearrange that trailer to fit my rig... But I do like my 2 410 rig

That's a bummer.... Luckily for me I'm the technical guy in our band, so if i say something it is usually taken as correct lol

But ya it's not worth it, just wait until you gig with some other bands with similar rigs, maybe he will understand then, maybe not, hah

Why not get a 410 then...? (with the 4pro )

Since the guitarist says he don't have space in the trailer...I would have to move my cab every show. We practice in a basement with very low and step basement I have to crouch to go up/down. Will be a back breaker for anything bigger than a 2/10.....funny thing is I told the guitarist for us to rent a space but he said half the guys won't come up with the money...I can't win!!!!

Ok...the 810 isn't that much taller than a 410...48"Hx26"Wx16"D. I think your guitardist is jealous. If not a 810 I'd buy a 410 ampeg.

I'm using a ampeg 410he with a 115, powered by a SVTII. I like it, it fits in a volvo. I think (2) 410s would be a good 810 substitute, should be easier to pack in a trailer. Or maybe a 610....I do believe the cab is a big part of the svt tone.

This^! Just to give you something to think about Jeff...a 810 is easier to move than lugging 2 x 410's. That's the main reason I went with a 810...I was looking at going with 2x410, when someone here said that to me. 810 has big recessed wheels, back skids for stairs and loading, built in dolly handle. Easy to move around!

Picked up my used Spector 5 today. Seems in OK condition for the price. It will need a little TLC but for the price I think it will be a nice bass. I figure if I buy a bass with a few dings it won't matter as much when I put a ding in it.

I believe it's a Spector Legend 5 in Black Cherry but maybe you spector guys can tell me a little better what I have. It's made in Korea with a serial #5959. I took a picture of the control cavity and the pick-ups as well. The just say EMG which I thought the legends had EMG-SSD's. So Spector "guys", any help IDing year and model and whether it's stock or not would be appreciated.

Thats what i'm talking about.....but no this guy has like an overload of PA equipment over $20k that he says takes up all the room, more monitors then we need and other sh*t...im not going to argue but I KNOW we can fit a 8/10 in there but its not worth it...I will end up turning green like the hulk....haha

Looks like a Legend 5 with a Haz copy preamp......that should sing nicely! Worst case upgrade to full active EMGs....

edit: Spoke too quickly.....somebody upgraded to active EMGs for you. Should sound great!!
