Bergs are friggin awesome. I arguably would play them "over" my Mesas if they were more easily available. Just nigh impossible to find an NV412 on the secondhand market!
Plus Mesa is (allegedly) coming out with their own sealed designs, which should be flat out amazing.
ut oh....... sealed mesa? might have to check that out. I love my svt though.

There are no vocals in it since it was from the studio but I only wish I could have a fraction of the talent this guy has. Death Metal is not for everyone but there some seriously talented musicians that play that type of music so I will always give them the props they deserve.

The Blotted Science stuff is just ridiculous as well. Why bassists in general are so butthurdt over metal is beyond me. Bassists "in general" aren't major songwriters anyway, which is why most of the time on TB I lulz at "crappy song" comments anyway. I used to do that when I was younger (and more ignorant
) which is why I bought my own dang guitar and started putting up instead of just talking noise bc I wasn't contributing. If putting together 3 chords and a minor and having a large to huge number of people like it were "that easy", everyone would do it. I was actually thinking of which bass I'd get if we were to ever do any kind of touring and it's prob the A.W. sig! Definitely not taking Brownie on any kind of overnighters.

I'd take any of my Forte's but if I had a showcase bass like the WCR NS-4/5...that probably would only go to my church band, out of the house.

I play Brownie around town at all our local gigs, but that bass is NEVER, ever out of eyesight or far away enough to not chase after a fool and knocking them out cold for even looking at her wrong lol.

I actually looked at the II-Pre and the original II's a few years back, the non-Pro version. The pre was part of the 90's Rex sound for sure.

Considering they're using the front-end of the M9 (which is my current baby and all-time fave Mesa amp), it'll be hard to pass up.
I keep a sharp eye on my dougie, problem is I don't want to play anything else though. :scowl:
Really interested in what the USA dougie neck profile is like. Never seen one though. If has the flat spot in the back that might be even better if that's possible.
It would be nice to see a new all tube head from Mesa, considering my 400+ is a '93 or '94. It's been babied through it's owners, though, but still....
It's not hard to watch my stuff close around here, especially with Spectors. Not that many floating around out here....I can only think of two guys who play them, and one of them is kind of a part-timer fill in type of player these days, and no one sure has a green 5LX.
So Grendle, you have the SVP-pro?? I am looking at the whole component amp setup and I am looking into this pre (the one with the blue writing on it). What are your thoughts on it?
Yeah I have the 2 non pro pre and I love it. That and my old hartke 3500 ( backup head now) 2 best heads I have ever used. I prefer the svt2 pre though. I found I like to run one of the main outs of the pre through a DI to FOH instead of just a Di on the bass. I like to know the tone comming out of the cab is what the sound man is getting, rather than a pre EQ signal.
Been thinking lately though, what do I need a cab for? I still like to give em some power from the stage though I guess
Sweet! I owned an SVT-3 pro in college, and I've always regret that I sold it! I am looking into the Ampeg rig with the ability to change the pre when necessary. Something like this is what I'm looking at.

Any time you want to lose money on some gear let me know brotha!!Nope, just my Bergantino blew it out of the water!....I hold Bergantino cabs as high for a cab as I do Spector for bass...When I don't like something I sell it screw the money invested...I want it out of my face...money comes and goes and I don't sweat money...If I want something out of my face I do it!

I've never played the pro, but i use mine kind of like a pro version. there's a master and a gain on that one i believe. I use the volume on the pre like a gain and the volume on the power amp like a master so it works for me. I also don't like any distortion so I can balance the preamp volume and master volume pretty well with my setup. A lot of guys who like the pro lie it for the gain control so they can get that grit at lower volume levels than with the non pro. Either way it's not an issue for me.
The svt2's have more low end than the other ampeg stuff I've played. It's a different low end than i'm used to also. It doesn't get boomy, it just gets "thicker" if that makes any sense. The low boost on the tone pump is centered lower than the head also so if i want more really low lows I just turn that up. You really don't want all those lows that sound good in the bedroom live or in a band setting anyway though, it just turns to boom and mud through the FOH. Took some time to learn that. Those mids (low and hi) are where it's at. But your still gonna feel it
