I talked to Robbie from Godsmack about how he runs his rig.... Really nice guy and first guy who I've gotten to talk gear with that plays/played such big stages..

He runs 3 signals.. On mic, one DI to the board and one to the monitors which is what he hears and EQs... The rest is up to sound guy magic.

At the end of the day... Hearing yourself with such good tone is all that matters lol

Yep. Very cool indeed!

I wanna get another set of strap locks for my other bass so it's easier to switch basses. According to the SPECTOR website, the Euro5lx comes with Schaller® Strap-Locks(TM). True? Or do they come with something else.?

Thanks
Rick

I love new bass day (esp. when Fedex drops off one of these). First of what I hope to be many Spectors in my life...

Beautiful. I say that a lot when new members post their pics. It either says something about spectors or about my vocabulary being limited. Lol

Didn't mean to offend....

Honestly, I just bookmark the Spector Club thread and go right to the last post. I skip most of TalkBass.

Did I mention I'm writing this on a mac. It is much better than a PC.

Not a big deal but I've seen all the wars over the last decade about all this stuff and it's a slippery slope ha

And so basically you paid 3x the money for 1/3 the computing power huh? ;)
Enjoy that hehe

Can you post a link to the simple explanation? There are a lot of threads to wade through...

That's the idea lol
A watt is a watt just like a gallon is a gallon. Perceived sound or tone is where things can get interesting depending on your power supply. Tubes sound good when clipping. SS sounds terrible hence the need for headroom and a billion watts to keep clean the louder you get.
Harmonic distortion and all that lol

the perceived volume of tubes was explained to me as : tubes generate over tones just like in waves technology software . there is an upper and lower octave added to the primary note . your ears hear those octaves and think that it is louder than what it actually is .
i have had many tube heads and can say they are damn loud . as per stated wattage vs a ss they do seem to be a lot louder . you cant gig a large room with a 200 watt ss head . but a 200 watt tuber will handle the room ... its a mystery of the music industry and all we need is a simple reason or explanation ... we may never get .

Ok, it just seemed weird to me that when I look in a catalog I see SS amps that range from 100-1000 watts and tube amps that only range from 20-300 watts... seems like a big difference somewhere

I can say my Shuttle 9 at 900 watts struggled to keep up in a band mix, whereas my 400+ at 1/3 the watts cut through just fine at about 1/2 volume, and the 9 was turned almost all the way up. I have the feeling if I turned the 400 all the way up, the guitarists' half stacks would've instantly vaporized into a Cube 30 or something, lol.

Yep. Very cool indeed!

Grendle, that's not the only thing that's cool. I saw news yesterday, didn't I? I'm super-excited for you guys. Can I be first on the list to get a copy? Oh - and is it possible to see a pic of the new shirts? I want to get my order in early since you sold out a couple weeks ago (after I got mine, though).

Not sure if any one will mind, but here are the new white shirts as well. :)

If there are any terms of use issues with the pics mods let me know and i will gladly take them down.

Congrats and cool shirts!

Speaking of cool shirts, JPS, any idea when we can get the awesome Spector shirts you were wearing in all the pictures from Namm?
