I agree. I have some "shine" on my Forte already...mainly the back of the neck, the body at the top of both the pickups where I rest my thumb, and under the G string between neck and p pickup from slapping.

It doesn't bother me at all...actually I like to see it happen because it shows me that I have been playing it as much as it deserves to be played! :bassist::D

I agree

My logic was based around both having the same pre signal to send to the FOH., cost, and weight. The preamp /power amp just worked for my situation. The svt 2 head does have some magic though :) you can't duplicate beautifully imperfect tubes. :)

a watt is a measuring unit. Search in the "Amps" forum to read all the butthurt that ensues. it's a very simple explanation as to why "less tube watts compete with more SS watts". no need to rehash and ruin our club thread!! :eek:

Honestly, I just bookmark the Spector Club thread and go right to the last post. I skip most of TalkBass.

Did I mention I'm writing this on a mac. It is much better than a PC.

I didn't find the Shuttle 9 class D amp to be able to really hang in there and cut through without distortion in a band context. It sounded good as a practice amp, but I didn't get it for that. I can imagine in a milder band setting, like jazz, maybe country or pop, it would do fine; in a rock setting, I just couldn't get it up to my liking.

By now, my entire neck is shiny, where I rest my thumb and hand too :D with time, the whole bass may get like that. Not a bad thing I think.

Dude, looking at the picture of your stack of amps...it would take me about 3 hours just standing there trying to pick which one I want to start with :D

I talked to Robbie from Godsmack about how he runs his rig.... Really nice guy and first guy who I've gotten to talk gear with that plays/played such big stages..


He runs 3 signals.. On mic, one DI to the board and one to the monitors which is what he hears and EQs... The rest is up to sound guy magic.

At the end of the day... Hearing yourself with such good tone is all that matters lol

Thanks, Lee. Glad that you're liking the B3. And thanks for all of the comments. I'm loving my new bass. There will definitely be more. For sure.:bassist:
