I have a 45P and 45J in my Legend 6 and it was a big difference from the original PUPs.

Spector doesn't sell the tuning machines. Check with PJ on the size and you can either get schaller or gotoh tuners on ebay.

I am after the original body. Concave belly cut. And I do like the inlays. Through body or bolt-on isn't that big of a deal at this point.

Yes, the Wimbish, Ian Hill is very close, Rex 4 is skinny too IAW JPS who just tested one.

GREAT Spector tone chrisloe!!!


Lately i'm after an overdrive pedal for my Zebop, and I've decided it's gonna be either the darkglass b3k or the b7k.
What I'd like to ask is if someone has any experience with those pedals combined with our beloved Spector basses, tonepump-equipped if possible, and if you think that the b7k is worth the extra cash. (I already know that Alex Webster uses the b3k, but i plan to use it with milder gain.)

Ah man! I believe the Legends were born for the PJ tone! Awesome idea! I may do the same with my Legend 4. You have me thinking about the hardware swap...I've toyed with the idea of gold non my BlackCherry finish...except I don't have a stacked treble/bass pot. I've been thinking about swapping out the pre also to either OBP3 or Haz...

Thanks ice! And I agree completely, the legends sound amazing, especially given their price point.
If I had one complaint, it's that it's hard to 'smooth' it out- it has that heavy mid presence no matter what you do- and that's not a bad thing at all, but sometimes I'd like to get a 'smoother' sound. (hopefully people get what I mean with my description). Would a preamp/pickup change help fix this? The only downside is that I really do like the sound it has stock...

Great clips everybody, keep them coming.

I need to re-record the clip I made for Sam so he could hear a demo of my new Sansamp RBI. Hearing the clean tone of my NS-5XL was just amazing and it was almost like "is this me playing?" But then of course, there were mistakes so I really knew it was me, haha.

I want to do a sound comparison of my Euro 5LX and my NS-5XL so everyone can hear the differences. Now I just need to come up with a catchy riff like Sam has :)

i agree. i think the stock sound is really good. not the mike starr tone i dream about! i love the heavy mid tone but i have the 3 band on mine so i can cut it down a little if i need to. but, i love that mid bite on it. i want to change the pre out, then again i dont. i cant decide. :rolleyes:

Thanks Guys, it was a while ago, mid 90's. It was my NS-2A (Emg's with the EMG BTC) strung with Rotosound 66's through my '87 SVT-HD and matching 8-10 now owned by a friend of mine. We put it in a room by itself and cranked it. Same way the guitars were recorded, his 100 watt Soladano cranked (to 11) in the other room. Then I went and sat and played in the control room, not sure anyone could have been in that little room with the amp. It was kind of awesome.

I smooth mine out by changing my strings to GHS Flats. But I stil can dial in that dirty aggressive tone still when I want it.
