SPECTOR® Club - Part 30

Okay so I am new to dropbox, but hopefully this works.

This is my NS-2A played in the 90's on my band Passion's CD "Asexual".

I think these are a couple of good representations of my "Spector Tone".

On the PJ note. I'm thinking about tricking this Legend Custom I just took ownership of. What are those EMG soapbars that are really PJ's? Are the 35J and 35P?

I'm also looking to swap out my gold hardware for black (4 string) if anyone is interested in a swap? If not, does Spector sell the tuning machines? I saw I could get the bridge on their site. Guess I'd need some black knobs too with the split (3 band EQ) bass/treble stack.

I'll get some pics of her tomorrow but so far I'm really liking the way this thing plays! Shocker right?

The 35P and 35J would be the soapbars for the Legend 4 Custom.

I have a 45P and 45J in my Legend 6 and it was a big difference from the original PUPs.

Spector doesn't sell the tuning machines. Check with PJ on the size and you can either get schaller or gotoh tuners on ebay.

Sorry to bug you Spector freaks....
BUT! Is the Wimbish model the only one with a small jazz neck? 1.5 nut? Any comparisons would be GREATLY appreciated. I had an NS-2 in the eighties, and the neck was a little large for me. Great bass, just couldn't deal with the neck. I ended up with a Jazz bass that had a HUGE body. Go figure.

Any years/models with a jazz type neck will help me in the search. Hill?

I am after the original body. Concave belly cut. And I do like the inlays. Through body or bolt-on isn't that big of a deal at this point.

Thanks in advance for everyones expertise.

The Wimbish is the only standard production model that I am aware of that has the 1.5 neck width. That being said, ANY 4 string bass can be made in the NY workshop with that neck spec I am told. If any of you have been told otherwise, please correct me. :D If you are going to go to all of the expense to buy a new one, have one made in NY they are killer and will surpass your expectations from the one you used to have...

Holy crap! I just read this about Spector Artist Rex Brown (who has one of my fav Spector tones):

USAToday.com are reporting that bassist Rex Brown (Kill Devil Hill, ex-Pantera/Down) owes $449,567 in back taxes and penalties to the Internal Revenue Service. According to the article: “The federal government can seize Brown‘s share of Pantera‘s revenue, including royalties from his shared record and songwriting credits, if a payment plan is not worked out.”

wow, that's very sad to read. i'm in tax and working on getting my CPA and it just boggles my mind how some people get so far behind on this stuff... :(
i guess with Vinny Paul owning most of the "Pantera" rights or i would think, and Phil has DOWN and his other projects, Rex kinda got left out on the side.
they make a good point about being out of luck whereas Rex, unlike Willie Nelson who can still go make $$, doesn't have a Pantera reunion to look forward to.

Did another cover with the legend. It's not amazing, but It showcases the bass's tone nicely, I think. I know the only things I've uploaded on it so far have been heavy, I'm trying to pick a more mellow song to do next to show how versatile the legend is.
Enjoy!

Real nice job bro! Yes, Legends can perform well! Legends don't get enough love and in the spotlight. Thank you!

He knows I'm a fan of his "body of work", just not a fan of that bass. If I win it, I'm gonna have him put a kittens playing with yarn design on it.:bassist:
LMBO!!! Hahahaha! I'm glad I'd already swallowed my coffee! I just love Patricks blood splatter design! Come to think of it... I believe it'd work very well in my bands genre'. Hmmmm...

Ah man! I believe the Legends were born for the PJ tone! Awesome idea! I may do the same with my Legend 4. You have me thinking about the hardware swap...I've toyed with the idea of gold non my BlackCherry finish...except I don't have a stacked treble/bass pot. I've been thinking about swapping out the pre also to either OBP3 or Haz...
