SPECTOR® Club - Part 33

Here are some shots of the new (used) ARC6. I am really surprised with the build quality. I may replace the tuners with a better set and dig around in the parts bin for some nice knobs. But otherwise, this is about the best lower-end guitar I've procured in a long time. For $212/shipped from GC, my son's going to be stoked. :bassist:

Very nice! I had a grey ARC6 a couple years back.

A little late to the conversation but I tried the 40P5/DC combo in my NS-5XL and liked it much better than the 40P5/40J combo. I've got both DC's back in for the moment since I really need to give that config it's due but I think I will likely go back to the 40P5 for the neck pickup.

Same here. I can't solder to save my life. :bawl:

I'll gladly volunteer my services to anyone in our club...I took studies in electronics in high school, also an extensive USAF electronics schooling for Jet Aircraft Weapons Systems troubleshooting/Repair Technician. I was in the USAF 25 1/2 years. Soldering is second nature for me. Please Feel free to PM me for any soldering needs you may have and don't feel comfortable tackling it yourself. Peace!

So, a little review on the ReBop...

I'll drop a P5 and DC in the neck/bridge spots respectively and see if that helps. I will say too, I know Patrick and others speak to this all the time, but I've "figured out" the TP preamp, I think lol! Obviously I'll still need time to adjust "on the fly" like I can w/ the Haz controls, but I'm getting there. It's kind of hard to think of the controls as a "rolloff" vs just an "up/down" control like we're used to, but yeah it's not too bad. It's definitely cleaner than what I'm used to, which I'm not sure if I dig or not. I love the grunt of my NS-5 but a pickup change would definitely help solve that.

So, anyway, I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and order my CK strings and get it all set up to my liking and go from there. Again, it's a great bass but I'm looking to "retire" my NS-5 for some obvious reasons, and I'm not sure if this is a 110% adequate replacement, just yet...

Bro...after tasting the goodnesses of USA's and NT's...I don't believe you're not going to get that sound you're looking for. It's apples/oranges...I know after just having Euro & Korean NT's, I'd go back and play my beloved Legend 4, even though Kitty sound GOOD, my ears and head was saying differently, that sound that Ive grown to love wasn't there. And especially after have my two Fortes! That's why I sold Kitty...she wasn't getting any play time anymore. :ninja:
I wish you good luck and I hope you find that right combo! :)
