Chuckles just took one of the new Euro LX 5s off of me. This is one of the "Amazon" basses that I upgraded to 40DC soaps and the "smadder set up" of the EMG BTC/EXB preamp/electronics. I will be delivering it to him in person on Monday so we'll get to hang a bit and I can see the look on his face when he tries it out. But big thanks to him for helping me out with this. I'll let him talk about it after he gets it on Monday but I wanted to give him serious props for taking this off my hands. Thanks man! This really helps me out a ton and you've been a great person to deal with. Looking forward to Monday!

Just got done turning my 2003 ReBop4 into a hot rod! I took out the stock EMG HZ pickups and replaced them with the 35P4 at the neck and the 35CS at the bridge. This is a huge difference in tone and clarity. The 35P4 has that nice reversed-P tone like the configuration of the NS-2 with the traditional split half P pickups. The 35CS has a warm tone that compliments the other pickup.

I used the supplied EMG 25K volume pots and the B157 Pickup Buss, which allowed use of the cables with the connectors for the signal, ground and power. So, there was mininal soldering for the TonePump and output jack connections.

Back to the tone, I do prefer the EMG active pickups (like I have in my Euro5LX - DCs). They really bring out more of the Spector sound, that signature growl and the punch of the ReBop. With the HZs, it did not sound as clear. This is a great upgrade! :)

Congrats! Gotta love the ease of the EMG gear. Glad you just made yourself a "new" bass without having to spend a ton of money or time. Enjoy!

Very cool. I'm sure he's gonna dig the smadder setup. I've actually started slapping again because of it. Dime the EXB and the slap tone is nuts. So much fun. I hadn't slapped for years as my Thumb 5 string spacing was so tight. Now the Euro and this setup and I'm slap happy. I can't wait until I'm decent enough to record some stuff for you all to hear the tone on this bad boy. LOL.

I've been using their stuff for a while and it's rock solid so I don't think you'll have to worry at all. I never knew how good it all sounded till I started using it in Spectors. Total my chocolate in your peanut butter moment.

I hope so, Tony. When I explained how hot the signal was and how it all worked he seemed to dig it, so hopefully on Monday he'll be as in love as you and I are with the set up. It's that EXB that's the magic sauce.
