I'm not quite sure so I can't point my finger at it. It was probably poorly EQ'd. I didn't have time to mess around with it, no sound check just plugged in and hoped for the best. I literally got this cab a day before the show and didn't even have time to plug my amp into it.
I think what it lacked is more bottom end. I will EQ it on Friday as we'll have time to do so. I am still optimistic that it'll work and I won't have to drag a 410 :D
We have a LOT of gear that we take to the show and the venues are so small that my 810 will crack the walls :bassist:

first off, thanks!!! Bass is a Euro 5 direct to console with a Sansamp PSA-1 pre with very mild compression. I cover backup vox live.

Just wanted to touch base (bass) with everyone since I haven't posted much since probably around part 30 of the Spector thread :)

Most of you probably remember my NS-5 with the MM pickup:

This is pretty much the only bass I play now, and it just seems to be getting better with age! I've never experienced perfection like this.

However....as perfect as the sound was....I found myself fighting the aspects of the EMG pickup. Some minor sterility, lack of warmth, and the killer...the more I get into effects, the more I found myself being limited by the nature of the EMG pickup.

I kicked around the idea of replacing the pickup for about a month, and finally decided to do it. I replaced the EMG with a Bartolini, while keeping the Aguilar OBP-3. I was shaking and sweating the whole time, I just knew I would lose my signature 'Wal' tone that I get from this bass, but I just had to try it to see.

Holy smokes! It still has that same signature tone with the Bart, but now it's warmer and works better with dirt pedals. I was pleased not to lose that sweet midrange and tight bottom that the EMG delivered.

I'm no 'Bart lover' by any means, and it basically came down to price and availability. Bart and Delano were the only ones I could find that were the same size, and readily available...both at BestBassGear. Bart was $50 cheaper, so it got the nod!

Sweet! I plan on putting Barts in the NS-5H2 I want to order and it will definitely have a MM pickup! Hopefully it will be in the works the beginning of next year!!

Grendle's show last night was awesome. Even thought I'm not such a fan of green, that Dougie just keeps growing on me. Videos are all edited and uploading now. As soon as grendle approves them, they'll go live. Ya'll really need to get to Orlando and check them out.

Would prefer the amberburst orange Dan has but would also like blue. I just don't want red or black cherry as that's what I currently have and I can't find anything. :(

Phat or some of the 6 string guys should be along soon. Things move fast here (basses too) just gotta keep up. I think there's an amber burst 5 here for sale locally. Ahhh its a trans red 5 but the price is way high.

You guys are awesome!

We both ended up finding the same black ns2000/5 from Sam ash and he found an earlier amber (non quilted, earlier 1997 model) from GC and I believe I found the same exact one on Craigslist as well...

If anyone has one of the 1998-2002 NS2000/5 they're looking to sell I'm in the market for one. =D
