This is all I know so far....I am giddy.....

Yeah guys, the amber euro 5lx with the smadder setup. When he first told me about his setup i was a bit reluctant on what it would sound like. When i first pulled the bass out of the bag i was shocked. The pics he sent didn't do it justice in the least! He wouldn't even let me plug in until he thoroughly explained his setup and flatlined the eq on everything. Then it was magic. The tonal options are virtually unlimited without touching the eq on the amp. It has the Spector growl and some extra ooomph. Not to mention it came setup amazingly, although i have dropped it a little lower lol. Overall a killer bass which i will enjoy playing tonight on some session work and for quite a while.
What's a reverse taper?
Not heard of before. Wow! That's a beautiful Gary Tallent "Shorty"! That maple is just popping, pow!!! That price seems a bit high for used...

I'm not biased on either btc or haz; both are monsters.....but this smadder.setup isn't going to be changed. Lol. I highly recommend it.
That's awesome. I've been experiencing the same. In fact I was playing around with the little dip switch treble adjustment on the board. I ended up putting it back to the original position as I liked it best. The tech set it up right for me. Lot's of options with this set-up!
What's a reverse taper?
Me either. It should have three terminals. Middle and to one side or the other depending on which way you want the resistance when turned.
That's right.....black cherry euro 4lx, right? But yeah, I'm very happy with how this experience went. One of the best guys to buy from!

Thanks so much for the kudos, guys. I got to hang out with Chuckles for a bit today when he let me deliver his Spector to him. What an amazing guy and a killer player to watch too. He actually taught me a new percussive right hand trick I am now going to drive myself insane learning...
But the best part was the hang and getting to make a new friend, down to earth and humble as you can get with a great perspective on life... Thanks so much for letting me visit, man. I hope we get to hang again soon.
Yeah Sam, I honestly will bring anyone their bass that they buy off of me if they're within a reasonable (ideal: 2 hours-ish) driving distance. It just feels like the right thing to do and also helps both people save on shipping. Plus Chuckles got a chance to ask as many questions as he wanted (whenever I would shut up) and I got to watch someone get a brand new Spector courtesy of me, and that's a great feeling - hooking someone up with an instrument they love. It's almost as cool as getting one yourself.
But I'm glad you and Chuckles and Tony are both digging the smadder set up. It runs hot as hell and you'll never need to go to 18 volts, yet it's also really affordable and a lot more flexible and practical than you'd think. EMG really has some great game when it comes to their pre-amps and when it's coupled with their pickups in a Spector... it's just magic. I wish it hadn't taken me 25 years to get around to getting into Spectors - I was missing out on a lot of inspiration!
And Jamie, don't worry man - you're gonna have one soon enough! Your gear will move and you'll be hooked up in no time. If not by me, by someone in the club.
Thanks to everyone in the club (esp Chris and Patrick for getting me to join up) for making this a great place for information, gear envy, fun, and a great way to meet some truly great people you'd otherwise never know. All because of some truly wonderful instruments and the people who play them. I've said it before: they really should add this joint as one of the benefits you get when you own a Spector.
Anyway, I've still got 3 more to sell, two new, one used and as soon as I have pics ready I'll put them here before the regular TB classifieds so the Club can take a look and call dibs if they want.

Yeah he told me about it this afternoon. My brother lives right outside of N'ville, so maybe I could do a combined visit/NAMM hang. It would be great if I had my mystery white Euro by then (it's either a Wimbish or an LX with a custom order Wimbish neck - I'll know when it shows up and I flip it over). If not, I'll bring the white JAR (which is 1/2 way through getting a smadder setup as we speak). Which is also one happy-making bass
I hope I get to go - it sounds like a hell of a lot of fun.

There's several on here that prefer the older Euros like the CRFM and NS-2000's. Whether the reasons are better flame Mapling, higher quality build or different tone. In the future I am going to start looking for a CRFM with great maple flaming and do a refurbish.
That is so cool and awesome of Steve to do this! Maybe he should be our "Spector Santa"?
