I can definitely live with that :D but only with Sam's blessing of course. ;)

BTW, if anyone needs help exploring the whole EMG pre-amp formula/smadder setup (or a variation on it) that I've been passing around, let me know. I get a pretty great "tech" discount since I buy these set ups a lot for both myself and the basses I help other folks with (Spector and otherwise) and am more than willing and happy to help enable anybody's Spector mod jones/curiosity. Just let me know what I can do to help.

My former NS-95 had Hz's and BTS preamp and I loved the tone in that monster too. That was one beautiful bass! :) :bassist:

Here's a preamp pic of a Samick ns2a . Not a haz copy , of course cause of the control layout . Also note the control cover screw holes don't have inserts and fewer screws .

Hmmm... never seen one of those. Who will solve the mystery of the Samick preamp?

BTW... don't the Samick NS-2A basses have "less curved" bodies than the more frequently seen Korean NS-2A models?

I had one... pretty cool bass... not really the Spector growl but a really cool tone, alot mellower

This EXB that people are installing into their Spector's. Is that like a mid sweep or is it more like a "slap switch" that some manufacturers install?

I am curious since if it's a sweep, that would be similar to what the BQC has so I am curious of the differences. My guess would be that the BQC has a separate mid sweep and also mid control as well on the stacked knob and the BTC and EXB combo doesn't have that separate mid control but I just want to make sure.

I want to rip the OBP-1 out of my NS-JH5 and was going to install a BQC but now I am a bit curious about this other setup. If it's like a slap switch though, that isn't for me since I really don't slap at all.

I hear ya, I usually hate to do any of these myself and I think that is what is stopping a lot of people from voting.

But it is a legit contest and doesn't appear to do anything strange to your account on facebook.

Here is the privacy policy, which doesn't seem too much different then any other website that we all usually visit on a daily basis.

my understanding from reading up on the knob is that it boosts bass and treble frequencies.........traditionally more of a slappiing scoop.............however.........I have found this to also be a pleasing tone at times in a band setting........i believe it can drastically change your tone with a little twist.......I have never had this particular control so I too am very interested in playing a bass with this feature...........although for finger style rock players that never slap, I think the BQC with that sweepable mid might be the way to go...........just my 2 cents from research not practical use of the smadder setup....lol

The Samick model NS-2A had a different knob configuration then the standard NS-2As and NS-2s of that era. It also has a less curved body, different bridge and a slightly different headstock.

I don't know the exact details of when this happen but apparently Kramer outsourced NS-2A production to the Samick factory when they had some financial problems during the late 80s with the regular Korean Factory.

I am also a personal fan of the aguilar obp-3 run 18volts with the pull sweepable mids setup........loads of experience with that one in 4 different basses......wired different ways in each
