Thanks! Honestly the idea was to get as close to the sound of the original NS-2 bass on a seriously small budget. With the Spector 9V tone control COPY and the same Dimarzio pickups used in the first NS-2s (they were even made in roughly the same period, not the new black ones that don't quite sound the same) I think this thing sounds awesome, and it has to be close, like gotta be 75% of the tone at least, without having the same wood for the wings and being the copy of the preamp it must be off by a bit. Definitely a roaring mids machine, but it really depends on how you EQ the amp, as I can get a lot out of it.

Regarding your post. Don't take this personally at all.

You have been through too much in life to even let this cross your mind more then once.

That is just a damn fool of a person.
You will eventually find the right band situation.

Can you imagine how much of a ****head this guy would be as a band leader. :spit: :mad: :scowl:

When I was in in College, (In New York City) the College Jazz ensemble I played in was a mixture of all cultures, races, religions, etc...
Italian, Jewish, African American, Haitian, Asian, Lesbian, Gay, Etc...

The Professor would always say how wonderful it was that "Music" would bring together all these cultures.

That is true music and musicianship. :hyper: :bassist:

smadder. definitely dont waste your time there. his track record is obvious why he cant keep anyone. if you want, its possible that i might have to quit my current band because im getting a new job and i believe weekends are a must for me to work. so you can move to kansas where i am and replace me ;) good luck with finding a good band buddy. c0cksmooches like that dont even deserve your time and effort.

Smadder - I feel for you.
15 months ago I auditioned for 4 bands - each one a different horror story - but none as bad as the collection of walking turds that you described.
I ended up forming a new band with one of my old singers, & a drummer who was a friend of his. I like the challenge of the 3-piece format - it demands much more from a bass player than a 4 or 5 piece band does, and it leaves plenty of space for me to utilize my Taurus pedals, which I enjoy playing almost as much as bass.
Hang in there buddy - You are a good person, & I'm sure you will hook up with the right band soon.

No problem dude. You guys sounded AMAZING! It's great to finally start meeting our Spector brethren in person.

Dudes - Jamie's got MONSTER tone! His rig is a Carvin B1500 through a Berg 215/6 and let me tell you the bass was pumpin' hard. In all honesty the Wick sounded good, it really did. But when the Spector came out tonight things got serious real quick. Tight grind and growl filled the air. These basses continue to amaze and dominate existence.

Can't wait until the next show!

Smadder You will find a great gig i'm sure. Its a good thing this guy showed his true colors and you found out sooner than later! I was raised in Memphis and I'm used to dealing with this crap all the time. One former band mate was always preaching about being saved and being a good christian . This "good christian" would tell people he was "mentoring" me. I was newly clean and sober at the time. And found out later this guy was on pills ,coke, weed and alcohol and would try to pick up girls behind his wife's back! And he would tell me what was wrong with me and what i should do with my life! I know this is not indicative of all christians(my best friend is a devout christian ) but unfortunately I experience this often in the bible belt. The ones who talk the talk USUALLY don't walk the walk.

Honestly, I felt better after typing it all out. Then I went on Craig's list and sent off for everything that sounded like fun.

My goal is to make the most out of the time I have between surgeries and times when I'm sick (which are pretty much one and the same for the most part). I end up having abdominal surgery once every 6-8 months. It's going to be that way for the rest of my life. So the only choice is to either be a bitter a$$hole and shut myself off from the world, or make the most out of the time I have between the surgeries and illness.

So screw this guy, I'll see if I get any nibbles on the 20-30 something emails I sent out over the last 2 hours. My tech told me today (yesterday?) that he loves it when I sit in the front of the store and just play. He says it always brings people in and creates a good vibe while people are in the shop. From my perspective, I'm just sitting messing around while he's fixing up my gear. But it's a great compliment and I know between that and being able to sing a few notes, I can get any rock/hard rock or neo-soul/funk/R&B gig I want if I can get an audition. Mr. White Power can suck a fat one. I appreciate you guys being supportive and I knew if I came here and got it out of my system you'd help me feel better about it and you did. Thank God I won't have to audition for him... although I can see the humor in that. Show up with a white bedsheet on my head. Dime all the the Darkglass knobs AND the BDDI knobs. Play everything on the B string tuned half a step down. Keep letting my shorts fall down around my ankles. Wear my bass up under my chin. Slap everything. It good be quite entertaining for me.

And actually the mental image is part funny, part frightening.

But I do appreciate you guys giving me room to vent. I don't encounter straight up, in your face racism like that every day so it really caught me off guard. But I am thankful I found out now instead of during the audition or worse, if I ended up getting the gig and found out later.

Anyway, it's over. Time to move along.

Maybe I'm a snob but as much as I loved the idea of such lightweight cabinets they never quite FELT right when compared to a cab that didn't use neos. IMO, YMMV, etc.

I'm highly debating using the money I get from selling my Euro to buy two Ampeg SVT210AV cabinets and stacking them like having half an 8x10, since my back would never be able to handle moving a fridge and we are always moving gear up and down tiny stairwells.

Good in theory but running with which head? There have been numerous reports about the matching head not being able to reliably support dual cabs (do a search on Micro VR over in the amp forum). I owned that setup with for a bit as a practice amp with one cab. It was decent enough, though I'm loving the portaflex (PF500/115) combination these days.

So I suppose Stuart's made the decision that he won't build them without the carbon-fiber rods now. It's been a while since I've seen one. So that makes sense.

My NS-2-DW will have the J/J pups installed instead of P/J, and it'll have the USA 9v circuit.
