My wife and I have an understanding...........all my basses/gear come from trades/swaps/sales/buying and reselling. I do not buy any gear from my "paychecks" I aquired mucho gear over the years and flip alot of stuff.......then go through lulls for a while. I give my wife all my money from gigs.........its a win win situation. I busted my butt in school. Got two degrees.........saw the states and the world.......then got married........quite frankly I'm lucky. I hustled and did my best to be able to comfortably support my family. And I married into three kids and had another. I work two full time jobs and play in two bands and manage to hit my kids sporting events...........sleep? whats that? LOL Where there is a will there is a way........I ain't big cuz I'm lazy.....thats for sure.......lol

However I often do still get the head shake.......and the "how can you play 14 basses at one time? How could you possibly need that many....and BTW....where is that going to be stored?"

lol. i hear you brother. but in order for me to make that first leap, im going to have to spend for it. unfortunately, it will be a while. i have a family of 7 and it's hard. very hard. sometimes i wonder how we make it, but we make it and have enough left for maybe a family vacation or whatnot. i think my wife puts the "family" first. as do i, but i have that little devil on my shoulder telling to "just go ahead and get that bass". but the angel on my shoulder is telling me "unless you want mama to turn into what's on your other shoulder, dont do it!" lol. im not scared of my wife, i just HATE confrontation. there's already enough yelling and screaming from 5 kids going on in the house, i dont need to hear the wife yelling at me. then the basses i have now, really arent financially worthy for me to upgrade. i personally love them but everyone else doesnt see their value as much as i do. id part with the legend in a second to upgrade. the ns-94, no way. i lost my ns-95 years ago and it was one of the biggest mistakes i ever made. so i need to build up my "resume of equipment" to even get to your or the other guys on here's level. and once i get it, i'll be happy, but then the g.a.s. kicks in and i'll want something else. so maybe someday, i'll get there. until then, im saving.

i dont have that problem, jarrod. i let the other guys worry about that crap ;)

In my bands I have mainly been the "other guy" .
The one with the 4dr truck , trailer , pa , lights , blah blah ..... Like right now I have 6 sub cabinets , 4 mains , 4 monitors , ton of Amps and other crap , trussing , 40 par cans , strobes , fogs . When I sell all that crap and retire I WILL have another USA Spector !!!

wow man. that's alot of stuff. sounds like you need to sell some of it off and get that usa spector ;) or make the other guys start chipping in for equipment too.

very true. im lucky with the band im in now. all i have to do is take my basses and there's an amp already there for me to use :) im going to buy my own someday, but it comes down to my earlier post. man i need to find a money tree. lol

We'll see how my latest project goes when we finally play out, but my last band was a gear hauling challange;
You haven't really packed until you try & cram a 16-ch. mixer case, Moog Taurus case, Phil Jones bass rig, SWR Taurus rig, four basses, a pedal board and a small light show into the back of a Ford Escape....

wow that has to be tight.... the best I have done is 2 basses, ampeg 810, 8 space rack case, full marshall stack, 2 guitars and 4 guitar stands in the back of a ford explorer.

Same here! I'm set up and good to go in 10 min. My entire rig at the moment is under 50lbs...and that includes my bass!!! :)
