yeah I keep seeing old 400RB's up for sale and I think about picking one up for my small amp. I had one back in the late 80's I should have kept. Great old amps.

They were good back then, I had the 800rb...new amps blow it away now though.

So my new to me Spector Forte 5 arrived this afternoon..... My first Spector.

Wow! What an amazing bass. Perfect craftsmenship and plays like a dream! I can see what the fuss is about!

+100%! And sadly to say...mine is moving on to a new home today...but it's going to one of our club members so she'll be treated right! On the road right now as I write, heading 3 1/2 hours south to Grand Rapids for the "Spector swap meet"! And then we will have another USA Spector convert! Buwahahaha!

Thx everyone for helping me ID the wood on my MINTY Legend 5. Found out it has only about 12 hrs studio time on it and what a Deal!!
Still looking for what Korean Spector used for strings when distributing. My strings are still as new.
I guess I need a club#, I am absolutely a convert.
Spector/Lakland/Peavey in that order. GAS has been cured, (for now)...

Ah! Congratulations though man. I loved the look and sound of it immensely, but my big palm/short-fingered hands couldn't handle the neck and the weight was a bit much for me. But it's beautifully grained on those wings - pictures won't do it justice, IMO. And yeah dude, that's an insane NBW! That's gonna be awesome.

The ONLY negative I have about this bass is the neck. It is the poster boy for "thick neck". Still, I will get used to that quickly.

It is heavy, but surprisingly very well balanced.

Amazing quality for less than a used Sadowsky Metro, higher end Warwick, etc.

You know, when I first picked my Coda 5 up, I felt the same way. Wow this neck is BIG! But after playing it, it is one of the more comfortable necks that I've played.

Once you get used to it, the necks are great. I really like the "substantial" feeling of the spector necks. It's like "you have a bass in your hand and you know it cause the neck is so beefy." I don't do well with pencil thin necks (front to back that is), but that's just me I guess.

Yea, I've never liked pencil necks either. This neck was just a little thicker than I was expecting.

SO I was finally was able to leave my band, meaning now I can finally settle down and start doing my own thing. Meaning I finally have to break down and get a recording setup. Right now looking at the Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini w/Protools.

This means I will finally (when i get it and get some sound cable to hook it up to the DI out on my amp) be able to post some clips of my NS20004 w/haz-copy and custom SGD pickups, as well as my NS-2A with the haz-copy and vintage Dimarzio pickups.

(I know I know Spector 9V Tone Control copy is such a long name to type haz-copy is quicker!)

edit: @Madbassplaya that Coda looks sweet! I am not a big J-bass fan, but I love the blue and tort! Neck looks a bit plain for a spector though

What baffles me about this listing is that the lister obviously knows a lot about what they have.

They've got the details right. And it looks to be a clean NS-2A. So perhaps in the $500-$600 range max.

But for them to know so much about it, they have no clue what the market value is worth.

Now... here's the thing. NS-2As are getting harder and harder to find all original. So eventually for a collector's standpoint, pristine NS-2A models will all original parts may become worth something to the right collector. But I seriously doubt the market as a whole will support their starting price, much less the buy it now.

Oh well. Good luck to them.

Stuart was there three days a week to make sure everything was being done the way he expected.

But Stuart's original business partner and the guy who assisted Stuart building every Brooklyn Spector, Alan, was there full-time, every day overseeing everything.

Kramer Spectors are no less Spectors than any other. Stuart might not have been there every day, but nothing left that building with his name on it without him making sure it was up to the standards he expected.

Kramer Spectors in many, many ways are far more reliable and better built than the Brooklyn models.

I'd probably own a Kramer, especially if I wanted a player bass, before I'd look for a Brooklyn. You'll have less issues with a Kramer in good shape then you'd be likely to have from a Brooklyn.

*** and an add on edit. Sorry! Necks... I've been collecting data on necks. And on average, overall, the Kramer models have the thinnest necks front to back. Brooklyn Spectors are actually on par with current Euros or even a little thicker at times. So if you want a thin neck USA NS-2, find a Kramer-Era.

New to me, this beautiful and amazing ReBop 4 Tobacco Sunburst front /back, from a trade + cash for my lovely Forte 5, from a Spector club member whom I shall not name until he reveals his new Forte 5. Me and my wife drove to Grand Rapids, Mi. which is almost a 4 hour drive one way but a little further for the buyer. But what a joy and a great time we had having lunch and swapping bass stories! It's always great to meet a fellow Spector club member! And what a great way to make sure you don't get damaged basses during shipping! I will do business with this member anytime! For you all that are one FB you've seen a couple of these pics.
