nice collection Steve! The grain/stain on the 5'er is very cool and a white Spector is ALWAYS a classy choice!! Glad you are enjoying them!
Brent the crazy part is that's not a top. they use solid 5A grade maple for the body wings. amazing wood on these things.
Yup, good point! Crazy. Most builders use a wafer of flamed or spalted maple.

Hey guys, What do you guys think of the Hartke XL stuff. A friend of mine has a 4x10 and 1x15 for sale stupid cheap. I would be using them with a SVT 2.

Yeah, but the Pantera one quickly pulled me away so that that brought the coolness factor to a new level (get it? Pantera pun, hahaha) with Stuart, Loend's amazing NS-2, and the Pantera picture.
Same here. The iPad version is hard for me to navigate after using a browser to access TB daily for years.
I have a Hydrive 4x10 and it's great for me but probably a bit too over kill since I just use it in my office. Like you, I got it for stupid cheap used from Guitar Center with an LH1000 head and I personally love them but I know others aren't a huge fan of them.
They seem to be getting more and more artists again using them. Geezer Butler is using Hartke now along with Victor Wooten, Frank Bello, Joey Vera and a bunch more so they seem to be getting popular.
Hey Jim! It's very different from yours and from Chris Loe's Ian Hill. It's definitely got that skinnier, rounder neck feel from the 5th fret on down to the first. You can easily feel and even see the difference between the regular 1.64ish" nut on 4 string Spectors and the Wimbish special 1.5ish" nut. But past the 5th fret or so, they start to feel very similar. I get to a/b it with my Matte twin DC LX and it's not better or worse than a more traditional Spector neck carve, it's just different. Still feels good and I can't see getting fatigued very quickly with it. It's also a bit lighter than my matte LX, but it's really well crafted. I think my ideal neck profile is the Ian Hill's Kramer era measurements. If I ever have a USA bass made for me, I'll be getting the Ian Hill profile if it's a 4. If it's a 5, the Alex Webster. But the White Wimbish-necked LX is great. Excellent balance and fantastic playability.
Actually, they're nothing compared to the top half of Jamie's matte black Euro 4 LX. The flame on it is Forte quality figuring. It's stunning to look at. My two matte tops have that kind of loose and wide figuring that looks different depending on angle and light, but Jamie's flame top is insane.
Yeah, I saw that when I went to visit Jamis and it looked awesome. I wish I could have heard it plugged up.
Speaking of tuners, I need to pick up another set of gold M4's for a project. Anyone have any reccomendations where to pick some up. I got the last set off the bay.
Well, with the arrival of the Euro LX4 with the Wimbish neck, I now have my Spector family completed. There's the Czech SSD blue burst with the Czech Haz copy being repaired, but these are my main three. The matte black LX5 has DCs instead of TWs and an EMG BQC pre instead of the Tone Pump. Same with the matte black LX4. The white LX4 with the Wimbish neck has the stock Tone Pump but will, along with the other two, be getting a US 9v circuit as soon as Spector has them back in stock. But I am looking forward to messing with the tone Pump and really try to get something that I like tone-wise out of it. But it'll be up for sale as soon as the US 9v gets here to replace it.
But here are my three babies. It's taken a long time to save and work to get these and I couldn't be happier (although I know that will prove untrue once the US 9v circuits are running in each of these. THEN I'll be beyond happy):

You can see the ultra amber a little better...I'm very happy with my choice of wood! They made the neck to the specs of my '97 NS-2 so it's very Kramer like. Can't wait to plug her into the SVT rig tonight!
