SPECTOR® Club - Part 45

Ever since I got a bass with a matching headstock, I've tried to avoid ones without them if the board was not maple. With that being said, I couldn't pass up on the Coda.
My question for you guys is should I have the headstock painted to match the body? I've spoken to PJ about this and he recommended someone. The price is a little more than I'd like to pay but it is the going rate for this type of job.
A friend already voted no. He said the bass looks "meaner" without the matching headstock. What do you guys think?
+1 on this! Black hardware looks awesome on maple. Plus, if you are the kind of person who might want to get rid of the bass someday (not you Mad...LOL) painting the headstock might hurt it's resale value if it is not original. Swithing out the hardware to get it back to original is no big deal.
So I have had Jim K.'s Forte 5er for a week now and I love this bass! My first Spector and first neck-thru since the '80's!
Yes it is heavy as hell, but it really does balance well! Also, the baseball bat neck will take a while to get used to as my MTD and Modulus 5ers have very different (flat) profiles.

With my MTD, Jule Monique, new Crest Power amp, my old Mesa D180 and amazing AE210 Berg cabs! Messy as hell as we are finishing the basement as I type!

Fellow Spectorians... I know this is a bit off-topic but I know a lot of people here record clips on their home computers.
Today I got a digidesign Mbox 2 Mini for recording on my home computer, but the included ProTools LE 7 is a no-go, the program crashes my entire computer when i first run the program, and I've tried many fixes and re-installs to no avail.
Is there any alternative to protools that I can use? I don't need anything super fancy, but I want to be able to put multiple recorded tracks into one mp3 file, as well as some EQing and mixing and mastering, but I don't need anything crazy like effects or samples and all that jazz.
Do I have any options other than finding some miracle cure for Pro Tools?

The opposite. It is a PC, using my home computer, not a dedicated recording machine. I installed it on my XP computer instead of my Windows 7 laptop because the install CD was for XP. Protools gave me my first Blue Screen of Death in something like 10 years, I haven't had a system crash in so long I forgot how frustrating it was back in the early days of Windows.
I haven't used it but to test but on the advice of my friend I installed Reaper. He switched from protools to reaper in his studio a while back and loves it. He sez it's much more user friendly. I'm not much of a computer guy, so it's still a challenge to me. Best of all it's a free download to try out for 30 days then a very reasonable price to buy. I think like $60.00 or something. Good luck.
I switched to Studio One 2 last year and it has been awesome and very user friendly. Inexpensive for what it is. I have pretty much tried them all. I am running a 2.4 Mac Book Pro with a hybrid drive and 8 gig. I got away from Windows for the same issues that you have. As long as you have enough memory, a decent CPU you should be fine with windows. You can install the free version to see if it works for you. Everyone is different.
I posted this cover earlier, but I did this in my basement with everyone direct and a electronic kit.

I had the same problem running protools on XP... the best(easiest) home recording I've used was garage band on a mac.... very easy to use... I've given up on home recording, since my mac died lol

send me that modulus and mtd, then you'll be able to bond properly with the forte. see how I look out for you Brent? ps love that d180 head you got there.
ps. how do you like that crest pro-lite? I have a ca4 that I'm thinking of retiring to PA duty if the pro-lite sounds as good.
