SPECTOR® Club - Part 49

I went into a local music store after my Samick died, and was looking around at some cool basses, was really thinking of getting a Squier.

The guy who spotted us said we should look at Spectors. He then proceeded to play the various specters in the bass room, spending an hour just comparing them to fenders and other things
I really love them now. I have a performer because I am not rich, and it is amazing. Obviously there are some annoying things about it, but that's due to it being an Indonesian bass, and therefore the finish is a bid bad in places, but it is really nice, and an absolute joy to play.

I am thinking of getting another one, but don't have too much money. What Spector, better than a performer would you guys recommend I get that is good to play, but isn't going to eat my wallet.

Who should I PM for my club number?

First, thanks for choosing Spector!
Second, look at finding a Legend (either custom or classic... the custom will have a set neck which is glued, no bolts, the classic will be a bolt-on).
They are very affordable used and are really great sounding/playing basses. If you really like your Performer, you're going to love a Legend.

I would look for a NS2A. They seem to go for around $500 give or take. I prefer it to my Legend, but I picked up my Legend 5 used for a little over $300, and it's still a great sound bass on a budget.

I played it when I got it this morning until my hands hurt, then went in and found out my blood numbers were low (we were expecting that, I finished a round of chemo last week, that is what is suppose to happen) but the transfusion center was closed or full until Thursday which means I had to go to the ER for my transfusions of blood and platelets. I should be out in the morning and back home to my family and my incredible new Spector bass. I wouldn't have had to go in if the transfusion center was open, but the numbers were low enough to not be able to wait until Thursday, but again, no worries, we were expecting this.

Okay, here are some pictures I took this morning very quickly before I went in for my appointment.

Again, thanks so much for everyone who got this to me.

Best man, can't wait to get home tomorrow and play it again.

that is one sweet looking bass Chris! If it sounds half as good as it looks, it's gotta be a monster! :bassist:

Back in the 80's they didnt make a 5 string import version but you could look into either a;

NS-95 or NS-20005, they were made between 1995-1998
Same factory as the NS-2A's

I owned one and I always said it felt like a 5 string version of a NS-2A.

Check out this page for more info on those models.

Hmmm..."Flat body, not curved"...I don't know about everyone else, but part of the appeal with Spectors for me is the curves NS body designs.

ive had an ns-95 and have and ns-94 and can say, they are curved in the back. im pretty sure the ns20005 are also.
