You guys ever get stuck trying to decide between two tones. I spend the week-end going back and forth between my SVP-Pro and GK 2001RBP. Two very different tone machines but both sound so good. Now if I could figure out an in-expensive switching solution so I could hook both up to my power amp and switch between the two pre's, that would slay.
To make matters even worse, I'm also trying to decide between my Tone Pump and MM114 pre for my NS2A..........The MM114 currently sits in my Legend 5, but I think I'm going to put it in the NS2A since I can't afford a US9V at the moment. Decisions, decisions...........

An a/b pedal should do that for you. My vote is tonepump... All maple bass and a tonepump = tone for days
I've seen an a/b pedal infront of amps, but I would need to switch inputs to pre amps & outputs to power amp. This and 2 channels to FOH for DI's. Probably more hassle than it's worth. I do like the TP alot in my NS2A, but my MM114 sounds pretty good in my Legend 5. I just don't play my fiver much at all anymore. I might just have to sell it with another pre and but another NS2A for the MM114. Who knows. I have a week off after Christmas so I think I will be doing a lot of experimanting and switching things up then. And be sure and let me know if DT makes it up around Seattle to do any shows. I'll be there for sure.....
guys, im thinking of eventually putting a new bridge on my ns-94. i want a brass one but as we know, the usa model doesnt fit without routing the bass and that wont work. so ive been looking at the hipshot bridges. anyone know of this being done on a spector or any other bass? are hipshots good bridges? where is the best place to order from? any info would be helpful.

I also picked up a Euro Spector body in the classifieds here. Just got it in today. It was painted an orange color. I stripped some of the finish off the back of the headstock and the body. I got the serial number and sent it off to Spector. It's a 2003 Euro4 with solid maple wings. And underneath that paint on the body is some beautiful flame! This will definately be getting a dye job and a gloss lacquer clear coat! I already have black hardware coming for it.
All you guys using Gravity picks, what is it that you like about them so much? I admit, I am terrible with pick playing (I am terrible at fingerstyle too but that is a whole different story, lol) but admit that I haven't tried it much. Trying to play some of these Pantera songs with Jammit, I am not having the greatest luck pulling off with my fingers since Rex is a pick player and some of his stuff is just so fast.
I figured since everyone is raving about them, I might give a few a shot but which ones are you mostly using? I see that there are a bunch of different styles so are you mostly using the "classic" ones or have you been trying different ones?
I bought a few different Dunlop Tortex picks to try out but whenever I seem to use them, they just feel like they are getting more in the way so I just toss them aside and play with my fingers. The 2 different sizes I tried were the .88mm ones that are green and the 1.0mm ones that are grey. I really would like to develop a 3 finger technique but there are just so many other things i need to work on and I think I should learn to play with a pick also.

I personally think Hipshot bridges are the most modern and best engineered bridges available... and they allow for instant string changes, too.
I've purchased from ebay store "joshmsr" many times and always receive the best prices. You can call and talk to him as well... very nice, helpful, and professional.

Hi all. I have a wonderful Euro 5 but lately i'm experiencing some neck twist, with more, uneven relief on the treble side. Have you ever experienced that? Any recommended ways to deal with this? Some time ago i had the same problem, and i tried loosening the truss, removing the strings and letting the bass sit for a day or two. That solved it, but apparently it was only a temporary solution. Any thoughts?
The online store is going to get an overhaul. But will eventually be linked in all of the Spector sites.
Thanks for pointing that out. It was on purpose, but still, good to hear that the work needed for the store is going to be worth while. First, I have to get Bass Central finished.

Because I converted my NS-2A over to a USA (current with intonation screws) Spector Bridge, I had to created a custom route template.
It actually screws into the 3 bridge bolt holes and has the necessary space to allow a small router bit into it to take out the extra space so the USA Bridge will fit. The only issue is that you have to be REAL careful with the depth of your router bit. Too deep and you'll mess up how the bridge sits... the same as if you go too shallow. I did it this way because I don't own a router, but I've got an industrial Dremmel set with a router bit.
So you have to take it really, really slow. And then there's the issue of fixing the finish you remove by exposing new cuts into the wood.
I used the Re-Ranch's gloss black guitar paint to gently (and I mean gently) cover the newly exposed wood.
I don't have time until the weekend. But I don't mind sharing the template design and measurements if you want to try that yourself.
Just know, use it at your own risk. If you mess up your bass, it's totally on you. I took my time and did the work on my bass over about a two week period and it turned out just fine.
