Calling it a Euro is somewhat confusing, though, as Spector calls the neckthru Czech basses Euros.
Wow! Between yours, Chris', and supes NS-4, I now have 3 basses that absolutely blow my mind. The quilt is incredible!!!
Patrick, how would you compare the J/J tone to a P/J NS-2? Also, what's the weight and how is the neck for you?
Also, good luck with the surgery tomorrow. My two back surgeries were tough, so I know that you aren't in for a whole lot of fun, but I'll be thinking about you and sending all the positive energy I can. Certainly not the most fun way to spend the holiday season, but you'll be back up and going before you know it. You've been through a ton, and this - you're going to kick its ass. I have no doubt!

Thanks Steve! I appreciate the well wishes. I'm just ready to get my life back. Since the cancer treatments and surgery in 2008 I've been blessed that I can go and do and pretty much have the same quality of life I had before discovering I had cancer.
But this is just insane how it will dominate your life. I mean just sitting in a chair can become a feat of mental power.
As for the Blue Dream...
Wow. Growl and Bark, it's very bright. I found that I can turn the bass knob all the way up... cut the treble back to 1/4 and it's still bright enough to bark on certain notes.
It's a different thing to get used to but I love it so far.
This bass isn't the low-end monster the NS-4 is. And the NS-2 with P/Js can get some real rumble going.
To me there's a better balance between the brightness and the depth of the tone. Leaning more towards the bright side.
I can still get deep. But it's not as easy to make things rumble.
As a former guitarist, by itself as a solo instrument. I'm totally in love.

Yeah I totally get what you are saying.
In reality they are all Europe Series basses.
But the Euro4LX, 5LX and 6LX are usually abbreviated to "Euro" so it's probably safer to say "ReBop".

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. The hardest part for me was because of the gut stuff, I couldn't go through PT to rehab from the back surgery because it made my intestinal stuff worse. So I was in a place where I had to choose which came first: the 10th gut surgery (this was October 2010) which would delay me getting the back surgery, or get the back surgery first, then the intestinal surgery later. And I was getting told the exact opposite order of things by both doctors on which to do first. I went with the back surgery first. It was mostly scoliosis correction, some disk replacement and a fracture repair: my vertebrae from the middle of my back just at the bottom of my shoulder blades all the way to my pelvis where I had a pars fracture had totally twisted 90 degrees around. It gave me kind of a hunch back look, but the x-rays were the worst. It looked like someone had grabbed my spine and twisted it sideways. Because the back operation(s) was going to be the worst of the two (plus, as awful as they are, I'm used to gut surgeries and know what to expect), I just went ahead and got that out of the way first. What I didn't know was that I wouldn't get to rehab my back at all because of my gut. I was SO pissed off. So now I have a straight back (and enough titanium to set off metal detectors everywhere) but the connective tissue and bones failed to regrow over the implants and I still move very, very slow. On bad days I still have to use a cane, but that's from the combination of gut pain and back stiffness. It was a rock and a hard place situation and even if I had chosen to do gut first, then spine, it would have made my gut worse.
So I know how the back pain can drive you to drink, kill small forest creatures, road rage, and even just dropping something and having to pick it up turns into an entire project all its own. I hope that after you get through recovery and start the PT you find that things are finally getting better. It just takes a while to get there and being on all the meds can also be difficult. If there's anything I can do to cheer you up or make things easier, please don't hesitate to ask. You are a physically fit guy and you've been through some seriously scary medical stuff, so I think that mentally you have a leg up on most other people, and because you take good care of yourself physically, it'll help with recovery time. I have nothing but faith that you're gonna kick it's ass the entire way through. I'm not trying to make light of it, I just believe that you are going into it armed to the teeth in terms of your physical and mental conditioning; that's going to make such a positive difference for you. It's gonna hurt, it's gonna suck, but you will come out on top. I have no doubts about this whatsoever. And I think it's safe to say that the folks here will be behind you all the way through.
And yes, the simplest physical activities are a nightmare when your back is screwed. From the aforementioned dropping something, to finding a comfortable position for sleeping, getting up and down from a chair, getting in and out of the car... it affects almost everything. And the pills make it even worse because as much as they might knock the pain back, nothing gets rid of it and the side effects from the meds can make you feel awful in all other kinds of ways (which I know you remember from your cancer battle). But you are almost there and you're going to beat it. That's it. No other options available.
Your explanation of the J/J combo makes total sense. Without that fat, wide aperture P in the neck, it'll tighten up the tone, which sounds like what you've got. And the increased treble presence because of that makes total sense as does having to tame it down with the EQ. But what an amazing tonal addition to your line-up! And that color... Jesus that color just kills me.
Anyway, you will be back (no pun intended) and playing it and the rest of them in no time. You're gonna do great!

Got something a little different coming tomorrow, picked up a trans green Spectorcore, had a epiphone alan woody bass but after my euro I just couldn't play it anymore, not as nice as some of the basses we've seen this week but still a spector, pics when I get it and all the luck Patrick.
Spectorcore's are underrated, they have a great look a and you can get a awesome upright sound from them. I have been looking for a good deal on one
