Yeah, I saw that when I was looking at pickups for my ReBop.
I'm curious as to why the Buckey 5er looks like the pickup halves are both the same size.

The pup housings for 4/5/6 string are all the same size. The difference is in the magnet placement.

Yeah. I guess the one downside would be if you ever wanted to put an EMG in your Fender P5.

The revised Spector site mentioned something about the USA NS2 that has me wondering.

The standard finishes including the matte natural finish are listed as matte polyurethane.

Bass central has a recent natural NS2 that's listed as oil finish.

So does Spector still do oil finishes, or does basscentral just have an error on the listing?

Yesterday was a prime example of a great day;
Wrote and recorded a new track all day, then rehearsal with Winter Of Freedom in the evening, then back to mixing the new track. That's how I like to spend a good day!

This new track I am pretty happy with overall. It all came flowing during an early afternoon walk, I composed it all in my head and actually remembered it all when I went back home to record it!
One this one too, I played the Bass, Drums and guitars. (voice-over by Jiddu Krishnamurti...until I write lyrics and find a vocalist). This is a Trailight demo.

I think 2013 will finally be the year of the ultraviolet NS-2 for me. With upgraded 5A tube quilted wings, ebony board & chrome hardware....

An oil finish would be a custom option, I would imagine. Spector changed to matte Poly finishes because they look similar & require less maintenance.

It's really not something Stuart likes to do.

The Matte Poly finishes have a similar "natural wood" look and require a lot less maintenance.

I've only seen one true oil finish USA in the past three years. And it was a special order that someone specifically said that they wanted an oil finish.

Most of the time when you see a Spector listed with an oil finish it's a matte poly.

based on the way some of them look, I think at least some were oil. you get the telltale gray discoloration on maple when the finish wears thru.

I had a NS4CRFM that was an oil finish (SSD era). It was def the oil finish. I use to rub it down with the Warwick beeswax from time to time. It was a great bass. I kick myself to this day for selling it. It is the one bass I've ever truly regretted selling. Plus, it was on ebay, so I feel like it will never turn up. Basses sold on talkbass seem like they can be tracked down.

Todays been a good day, off for the first time in a couple of weeks, watching football, ignoring phone calls, texts, emails regarding work. I spent a lot of time playing spectors and checking out the new site. Lots of info there. Well done Patrick.

I'm really old skool and I like the look of the classic black walnut finish that is available for USA models. Due to being poor, I can't spend 5k on a bass. Could I order a Euro in black walnut? It's not on their available finishes. How flexible are they (the Euro factory) in that regard?

I'm thinking Euro LX, black walnut, satin poly.
