SPECTOR® Club - Part 55

Good question.
Now that I have an NS-2 and an NS-4, the next logical step for me would be an NS-2 double J model.
I believe JPS posted some sound clips of his awesome twin-J "Blue Dream" bass a few threads ago - maybe we could convince him and "The Godfather" to post some clips of their beautiful & unique double-J Spectors.

Ask and you shall receive. :D :bassist:

All clips recorded with 9V Circuit at Center Detents.

I'm in but the photobucket app seems to not work anymore, at least on newer iphones. What are you guys using to
post from your smartphones?
Photo bucket works great with my iPhone 5.

Ice - glad to hear you were properly taken care of.
I'm still stewing over my latest NS-2 purchase.....
When I ordered it, I had the salesman read back all of my information to make sure it was correct, and it was, and he assured me that the bass would be shipping that afternoon. This was important to me, as I'm on vacation all this week & wanted to spend a day or two playing & setting it up.
The next day I get an email saying some of my billing info was incomplete & that I needed to contact them. Turns out they wanted a 3-way phone conversation with GC finance, me, and my bank to confirm that it was me who was actually ordering, & that I hadn't had my card stolen. Long story short, my NS-2 did not ship until late last evening, putting it here next Monday evening - the very evening that I start a month of night shifts.

Thanks, that was crazy but a good safe measure. I was wanting to use my incoming Spector bass for our Ash Wed. Church service this week but atleast I have my Coda 5XL which does an awesome job. :D

My new to me Spector is out for delivery today! :hyper::bassist:
Petoskey, MI, United States 02/15/2013 7:38 A.M. Out For Delivery

Ill post pics later tonight...UPS doesn't deliver here until 6-7pm :(
I'll have it for my Sunday morning gig. :bassist:

Congrats to everyone with new Spectors from last 2-3 days! All gorgeous looking! Somehow I got busy last couple days and got behind on here.

Man I love the top on this one, killer finish!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm still stoke on it.

Hi Guys Two hours ago we had meteor attack in Russia, 2 thousand miles from Moscow, Chelyabinsk area. no casualties reported yet but many injuried by shock wave caused by meteor split and explosure at height 10 kilometers. windows in the houses broken and some doors too. One chemical plant is on fire. Be careful as Earth goes round!!! look at pics and I suppose there's a lot on youtube already http://newsru.ru/russia/15feb2013/wotw.html

I saw this last night before I crashed out and had the weirdest meteor/horror movie type dream....

I definitely think there's truth to this. Anthony Jackson's signature fodera has the pickup hard wired to the output jack with no preamp or passive tone controls and he cites the same reasons.
Thanks Jim! I knew there was something to it!
Thank you Jamie.. OK so who works on your basses to achieve this??
You can get Scott Harris to do it locally

Wicked forte x!!!!!!!!

The perfect bad-ass strap for that Forte-X!
Just one look at it and you know there will never be any jazz or country songs coming out of it.
:bassist:

lol :D Right you are, sir

I actually got the strap first, then *tried* to convince the Wife that I needed an appropriate bass to fasten it to. After I picked up the Forte, I cemented some black sheepskin to the back of the strap to better accommodate the weight (#9.5). Recently I contacted the craftsman down in L.A to see if he could make me another one that's 3" wide with diagonal pyramids and some bigger spikes  He's drawing it up right now.

i like the no volume knob approach! "Volume pots are for sissies!" LOL Seriously though, I imagine the tone is a little more opened up and maybe a touch hotter? What drove you to try this?

I have played a p bass where the pickup was direct wired to the output jack and have also played a guitar with the humbucker straight to the jack using a volume pedal as needed. It definitely does something with the passive pickups. Im curious as to your take on what it does with active pickups!

I don't know about Donny's experience, but I can relay my experience with my dual emg equipped Fernandes. it has two P pickups wired to a volume pot and nothing else. the output is hot, but not overwhelming. the tone is extremely open, full range and aggressive. taking extra pots out of the equation seems to give you a little something extra in exchange for a little loss in adjustability.

Well for DT I always play with both pups wide open. I was waiting for my volume pots to arrive and I got to thinking "what if I bypass the volume pots?" It definitely opens up the tone, allows it to breath, its very aggressive (perfect for me). The TP still allows me to adjust tone. j.kernodle is right, it is a hotter signal, but I'm finding that my pedals are liking it perfectly.

On a side note, I ordered a couple sets of the new D'addario balanced tension strings... They are a lot cheaper than circle k strings, so I thought I would give it a try with all the hoopla you guys have been talking about with the balanced sets :D

Let us know what you think of those since I am really curious. I almost ordered a set the other day but already have a new set of D'Addario EXP's on my NS-4 and already had string the new Euro with D'Addario nickels as well so I seem to be ok with strings for now.

I am really liking D'Addario lately and it sure helps that they are half the price of Circle K's :) I do have a set of Circle K's on my Rebop and like them but only got them since I am tuning so low but they were not cheap.

I'd like to thank Dave Fowler for dealing with my incessant emails, texts and phone calls for the last month regarding him selling me this beauty. I am now the proud caretaker of this ultra amber NS 2.

Thanks Dave!
