ive got a question that im sure has been discussed here before but it was either before my time here or i somehow missed it. its about the different headstock designs



i know some like the SD or the JN model basses were very different. im talking about the shorter wider looking headstock and the longer slimmer looking headstock. i cant find rhyme or reason. not that it matters too much. im just curious

is it a USA/ euro thing?
seems like ive seen both 4 and 5 string versions of both...but i could be very wrong.

thanks for any schooling you can give me on this. im pretty new to all of this so im just trying to take in and learn "All things Spector"

This is the standard 4 string headstock (all current lines sans Coda):

This is the standard 5/6 string headstock (USA/Euro line)

This is the standard 5/6 string headstock for Legend/Performers:

This is the NS-94/5 headstock:

I'm not sure when they started using the narrower headstock for the 5/6 string basses

I think you're right Lee, thanks! I'd been playing my NS-20005 for that song but I believe the Coda 5XL will be a better fit. More open and aggressive!

Awesome. In related 80s references, I was at the pharmacy the other day. The pharmacist had to chase down a couple of different things and upon his return to the register, he looked me straight in the eye and said "i love it when a plan comes together". I started laughing. I use that line all the time and surprisingly (or maybe not), so many people don't get the reference and they just give me "the look". (You know the one...it lies somewhere between *** are you talking about and you're a dork.)
