I played a club member's Coda 4...........and maybe I played a bad example...but I played a new fender american deluxe jazz with their new preamp and the fit and finish was SMOKING, so not every fender is a dog, nor is every bass by any given company a perfect specimen......I like my Spectors just fine but I have a Stage 2 Streamer that brings the pain too.....I think its all about what we hear in our mind's "ears". Now obviously fit and finish is a whole different animal than tone.......we all set up our basses differently too......
On another note.........i guess it's cool to have a club where the majority of the members think their bass brand is the only brand for them. I mean this with alot of respect, as it seems my personal preferences change often....i have no "perfect bass" I have one prefered bass for sentimental reasons but not because its the best bass ever.....
Funny too as I don't like change as a genral rule.....lol.....basses....they are another story for me....change is sometimes good and pulls me out of a playing slump or "that stuck in a rut playing style moment"

To which part? I'm not bashing Spector in any way.......i love them just fine......i just have a variety......like underwear...........I can change everyday for half a month.......LOL Basses...........
If its about the new fender jazzes, as I see you also are a fender club member..........STAY AWAY from the new active passive fender deluxe jazz! Unless you want to spend the money........LOL

Heck, when I have the funds my stable will probably widen to include some basses from other brands I've been wanting to try (I've been curious about the dingwall combustions, and I've always dug the sound and feel of every well set up musicman bass I've played). But I think for a main bass I'm set with Spector.

I am gassing currently for a Sadowsky........I need to ask Jeff about those(a couple other Spector club members own them too if I remember correctly).....I have no idea why I want one? Maybe its the hype? I do want to see about the COda Pro models, but have no idea where I will find one near me.........are they even out yet?
Oh yeah.....basses........I played a Moses graphite necked stealth jazz that one of our club members owns/owned and it was probably the BEST jazz type bass I've ever laid my hands on..........and it was built from a variety of parts............wild how sometimes stuff comes together like that!
OH YEAH.........The new Ian Hill Euro just OOZES rock n roll...........when I look at it i just think Bad A-- METAL
So I brought the Q5 to rehearsal last night and got raves all around for both tone and looks. We gig Saturday night. First five.... yea, missed a few notes while looking for the wrong string, but we're gonna be fine.
I'm noticing the need to move it up on my body, shorten the strap.... both helping my left hand reach around the fret board as well as my right hand finger speed.... ah hah... the uber narrow Fender 4 jazz neck on my Precision doesn't bring that to my attention.
So far, not a lot of knowledge or recognition regarding Spector over here in the west.... drummer is a long time roadie, sound tech, who also tinkers with bass, so I'd expect him to notice.

Thanks man! Yeah he is definitely ambitious on the set. I know he plays along to stuff like later Death, Blotted Science and a lot of that frenetic-style metal - sometimes I feel like we're boring for him.
Well I have her a test run with my m9 and 412ph and it definitely has a different tonal sound from my other euro's . There not much difference but I can tell with the solid maples wings it has a tad tighten hi fi sound I guess you would say. I love it and we will be happily together for some time.

All NS-2A's were made with black hardware, Chrome hardware is rare for any Spector.
NS-2A is what I went with, great basses for the money, and it is pretty easy to find one that has been upgraded to active EMG pickups
Mr. James makes alot of sense here....I on the most part agree that most Fenders are below expectations but the new American Deluxe Jazz is a Beast!!!...I had one to try and it was a beautiful specimen. It was taken down by a "even better" Sadowsky...both basses have moved since I was looking for a Super Versatile bass, which I found to complement the future purchase of 2 Spectors while maintaining my $1000 limit, one reason the Sadowsky and Deluxe went.
Now I have 4 regular basses under the $1000 limit and one travel bass the Hohner B2a(thanks Lenny)....CC bills are getting under control!!!

I like Fenders and Warwicks. I've owned both & been reasonably satisfied with them.
I LOVE my Spectors, though & would never think of not having one in my lineup. If I were to pass on a Spector, it would be to get another one.
My ReBop is also NEVER leaving my side.
I've played the new Jazz DLX & I wasn't impressed by it. Weighed too much compared to an Am Std, was overly flashy & didn't play/sound any better than the MIM Active DLX Jazz I owned last year. Wasn't worth the coin, IMO.

I agree with you and I think if it feels right play it and keep it.. so far my Spector Euro 4 just has it for a rock bass as does my schecter Model T and as I am in a Alt Country Rocky Tonk band now I mainly play My Dipinto Belvedere Deluxe for that and it just sounds right for that band.. I TOO am interested in a Jazzish bass and VERY curious about the CODA or a 2J Spector for sure.. Bring the thunder

I would have to say that I think the community here is what makes people "Spector Only" people. I for one was a Fender guy before I found Spectors. I have rolled with the Gibson Les Paul gang for over a decade and it just isn't the same. i am a big "brand loyal" type of person. I try to support local and small business when I can. Spector is a pretty small business in the grand scheme of things.

The Ian Hill looks very RAWK in person......something about the lines of the body, the blackness and the gold...it just pops!
The community is part of what makes me "Spector Only", despite owning a couple Fenders, but I wouldn't say it makes me brand loyal. Spector's constantly proving that their quality & sound, across ALL of their lines, is beyond what any other manufacturer strives to produce. That is what drives my loyalty.
+1 it might have been the sound that first roped me in, but the community here is what really sold me on spectors. I don't think ill ever be without at least one in my arsenal.

The community we have really roped me in to liking the Spectors..........but I wrote a giant post about this not too long ago..................maybe a few threads back?
I talk to muliple club members weekly on the phone, via text, or chat. Heck I talk to Donny daily via facebook chat I think.....lol
