I actually have the Webster neck profile being done for my NS-6XL order. I want that one to be a fast player.

That'll be a killer player for sure!

I'm loving the AW neck profile on my fretless! It feels thin, but still had some "meat" to it...if that makes any sense... Its the only way to go if you like a thinner neck profile!

The deal fell through! It's back up for grabs. Thanks for the nice thoughts though.

However, I don´t know why technically, but some 35" seem perfectly suitable for me, and Spector being one of them.
I guess it might be that it´s a very different instrument from a Jazz, neck-through, wearing position and such. Never played a 35" Jazz that i liked.

With Spector 35's I heard said the bridge is set back farther toward the butt end, and its measured from bridge to string nut. So with that said, the neck shouldn't be any longer than a 34" scale. We have discussed this subject way back a couple years back I believe.

If you hadn't played a Jazz bass that you liked... Neither did I until I bought my 2012 Coda 5XL Deluxe Jazz Bass! The only jazz bass that I've played that I absolutely LOVE! Try one! You'll be quite surprised.

I wonder what percentage of Spectors sold are 5s? I believe I recall for Sadowsky it's 50%.

I've been curious about that myself...

OK, so I've really been wanting to go back to Spector after selling my Euro 5-string basses, but the 35" scale hasn't work for me.

First off, I'm sorry about your bad luck.

From my understanding a Euro 5LX is now available with a 34" scale for a bit of an upcharge. Perhaps that option would be something to look into.

That's interesting. Kind of makes sense if you think about it. They use the same necks as the US I believe, so if they're making 34" 5-string necks for the US now, why not make them available to the Euro models too.

Donny I was just gonna send you a message and see if you liked the one you had. Did you mod yours ? New ones are $600 ? I could get one in a few weeks then down the road upgrade the pick ups (Im guessing the are EMG 35 size?) and preamp to either a Tone Pump or a EMG BQC

Thanks man! Yeah, I'm not really a metalcore fan either, it's the guitarist and drummer who really love all of those warped tour bands. I'm more of a djent/prog fan myself, but these guys are all good friends and they needed a solid bassist, and it's pretty fun since they let me get away with almost anything in my playing

Quality recording too. I have no idea why on one else is commenting- jealous I guess. Keep it up bro!

I've been drooling over the new ultraviolet finish ever since I saw pictures of the 1st UV to come out of the Woodstock shop, but this bass simply awes me with it's classy looks.
The walnut stain/tube quilt maple is rapidly becoming one of my most desired colors. Tube quilt makes blues look like shimmering deep water, reds look like volcanic fire, and generally enhances the appeal factor of any color applied on it.
The walnut gloss stain would have looked amazing over the tube quilted maple on my blue NS-4......

+1 on the tube quilt. Emerald green is particularly nice over tube quilt.

Donny had the Rex pro, which I am now in possession of. It is neck through, it has upgraded pickups to EMG DCs, and a tone pump pre.....it's going in the classifieds soon unless someone here wants it

Oh? Well, the frets will be a tiny bit further apart anyway? That´s what´s been sticking to the "usual" 34" since i went all Jazzy.
However, I feel the need for a big/solid mass fiver with rock solid fundaments, what´s better than a Spector for this?.

Yes, especially the first 4 frets are farther apart. I also have a Coda 5XL DLX with 22 frets, 35" scale. My favorite Spector so far!

Haha! It certainly was a nice night, had them unpacked in the evening, could not sleep!
Especially miss the Euro5, and the fretless. That´s why i am really eager to get another E5 now. Like mentioned, I am in dialog with a guy willing to sell me his CRFM, and i got to say it´s tempting.

From the looks of it, the 4 gems in the boxes are different than the ones you're rocking in the live shots. Six Spector basses, gotta love those blessings. What finish does the one in the box (at the very top of the pic) have on it? Looks like a burst of some kind.

Grab a used Rex Pro. It's neck thru with an ultra slim fast neck and body cutout for better fret access. The BT preamp really gets this 5 string beast growling. It's much deeper and darker than my Euro 4LX or my NS-2J. It plays and sounds quite a bit different than the Bolt on X.
The holoflash finish may or may not be your cup of tea but it does look cool under the stage lights.

+1 on the Rex growl - I owned a Rex 4 for quite a while and that big slab of Maple and the BT definitely work well together.
I'm very impressed with the 4X though, mine sounds great out of the box, surprisingly so, although I plan on slapping a set of DC's in it soon.

I owned a rex 4 pro.... I really like the X body more than the Rex. I don't need the upper fret access. I have my NS 4 CRFM for that. I've always been curious of the Legend basses, soo many respected bassists use them and they sound great. I sling it low and NEED the X body lol. So on that note, anyone interested in buying a Euro blueburst with Tonepump?
