I believe you are correct. I definitely want it done, but it's all about finding the right person to do it! ...at least it's a BO so if something DOES happen it won't ruin the entire bass!

bunk forgive me if this has been addressed but what preamp is going in you build? I see four holes so it's not gonna be the regular ns5XL setup.

Is lowering the pups a valid way to lower the output of the bass, or does that also affect the tone too? I'm curious.
So, I managed to play a ReBop the other day.
Am I weird for not liking the body style as much as my Korean? The guy at the local shop did an incredible job on the setup and action of my Legend, and I mean incredible. I took one of the rack tuners at the store and checked the intonation and it was absolutely spot on. It basically plays like a dream. I also like my chunky monkey Spector, I can't tell you why.
I feel like putting in an Aguilar active preamp with volume and mid controls as well as strapping on a Badass 3 (moreso to make setups more manageable than any delusion on tone being better) will be the only things I even need to do to this thing.
Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love to have a Euro or USA version. I'd kill to have an NS5 with blue-black burst and gold hardware.

Last time I talked with PJ about the specs of the fretless they do not offer this as an option from the factory. ...but that was a year ago FWIW...

Indeed. I'm a bigger guy by default so having a bigger, heftier bass just appeals to me on several levels.
I'm anxious to get the Aguilar OBP put in, though. With the flats on it I have a feeling I'm gonna be have to cut the lows, as its already a beefy mofo.

Yes and yes... I say mess around with it. Rex Brown has been quoted as saying he sinks his pups as far down into the bass as they will go

I played the Legend x at practice last night. The SSD pups are exactly how I remembered them and they cut like an angry SOB. The tone is naturally cleaner than with actives and a tonepump, but I can work with that. The TP jr is boost only, so it took a little bit to really dial it in. I love the bare neck, it plays fast.
Now I know what Mandy Pantinkin would look like playing a Spector!
