SPECTOR® Club - Part 60

Look who I ran into at GC today. The gregarious Joe MrBassie with his FAMOUS club bass. We had an old school tailgate jam! His Forte is an absolute knockout in person. Pics do not do it justice.

Oh, and yes, he really is always this happy.

Man that bass looks awesome in the daylight

:bassist: Awesome!! :bassist: I'm gonna have to make a Spector club tour of VA at some point! :D

I want to say that there are 5-6 of us in VA alone...........that's not counting the MD peeps

Now I know what Mandy Pantinkin would look like playing a Spector!

(no offense meant to MrBassie :))

Who would get insulted being compared to Inigo Montoya??? ...unless you're the six fingered man who killed his father... :D

Very cool! I'd love to come visit with you guys, see some of your shows and play those awesome VA Spectors! :D

Joe is a really very happy guy. I love talking with him, always puts me in a better mood.

Is that the GC in Fairfax? I stopped in there not too long ago. Looks like the double box refin has been pushed back to June 1st for pickup. Looking forward to seeing what Chris does with it and hopefully meeting up with some of the VA members.

If I had a Forte that looked like that, I'd be wearing a ****-eatin' grin 24x7 too. :D

Let me tell you guys why Lee(Husky123) is smiling as well. In his right hand he is holding the best sounding and looking Spector I have ever heard/seen. The Birdseye maple fretboard is enough to make you weep with joy. definitely a case of pictures not being able to tell the complete story. Stunning to look at yes, but the sound is what really grabs you by the balls. Bright, but not harsh or strident. The finish is 3D in person. The neck is very comfortable and stays consistent all the way from the 1st to the 24th. Very comfortable profile. I want to publicly thank Lee for very generously offering to hook up, so I could check out the neck on his bass. I have a project in the works and I was concerned about neck thickness and profile. Lee just said "let's get together and you can have a reference point for your build". Totally cool! And the man has chops!
I love Mandy:) I'm a big Homeland fan. Thanks for all the kind words, I love meeting the people that make up this great community. We should definitely try to get together as a group. I guarantee we would have a heck of a good time. As soon as I figure out how to post a video, I have a real treat for you guys :bassist: coop, I share your pain.

So, I managed to play a ReBop the other day.

Am I weird for not liking the body style as much as my Korean? The guy at the local shop did an incredible job on the setup and action of my Legend, and I mean incredible. I took one of the rack tuners at the store and checked the intonation and it was absolutely spot on. It basically plays like a dream. I also like my chunky monkey Spector, I can't tell you why.

I feel like putting in an Aguilar active preamp with volume and mid controls as well as strapping on a Badass 3 (moreso to make setups more manageable than any delusion on tone being better) will be the only things I even need to do to this thing.

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love to have a Euro or USA version. I'd kill to have an NS5 with blue-black burst and gold hardware.
You're not at all weird...you've found YOUR bass for you, that you're fits you and are most comfortable with. :D :bassist:
Just as me loving the Coda as my fav right now. :smug: That's why Spector makes various models. :) There's one for everybody!:bassist:

Bumming heavily. I received my new B3K from the Ebay seller, got it all hooked up, turned it on and out comes a loud 60hz hum. :scowl: I've tried different cables and power supplies to no avail.

I've sent a message to the seller. I see he says no returns. Hope he makes this good.

See im 5he opposite I love my rebop body but love the tome of my two ns2000 4 s. However In a weird oddity one of my ns spectors weighs about a pound and ahalf less than its counterpart no one can seem to explain why. I think the koreans ns are awesome but love the body on the rebop. Hence why im now putting the emg bt into my rebop. Trying to get it as close to the ns2000 4 s as possible.

I played the Legend x at practice last night. The SSD pups are exactly how I remembered them and they cut like an angry SOB. The tone is naturally cleaner than with actives and a tonepump, but I can work with that. The TP jr is boost only, so it took a little bit to really dial it in. I love the bare neck, it plays fast.
That's cool Donny! :bassist:
The bare neck being fast is why I ordered my Coda with the oiled neck. :D Love it, love it, love it! Really happy for you! :D

Here's Ho's video. A tribute to the Godfather...

That just rules on so many levels!

Which power supply did you try? I believe others have had this issue also and it gets solved by using the 1-spot power supply. I bought that for my B3K and it works fine so you might want to see if you can try one out and maybe that will solve your problem. It's like $20 for 1 power connector and $29 for the one with multiple connectors.

Yep - 1-Spot is the one you want. I used an Aguilar one first and it was very noisy.

Received my NS-2K5 Control Knobs...Love them! :D
