Speaking of GAS, I'm jonesing over a Black and Teal Spector I found on a website.
Anyone out there have that color combo on a Spector?
If so please post a pic if you can. I've seen catalogue type pics at some sites that look very green and some at other sites that look very blue. Either is ok with me I'm just curious how the finished product actually looks.

Everything I have been reading and looking at seem great about this amp and you gig with the thing all the time with your band don't you?

Yup, all bands. (rock, acoustic and pop) The tube tone is amazing. I usually go direct, but on occasion I mic the 210 and it sounds huge through the PA. At rehearsals it's fine - I compete against drums and two guitar amps.

I was also GAS free once....For about 21 hours. :bassist: :bassist:

LOL!

Thanks for the feedback. I sent an email to Best Bass Gear to get a quote on the correct OBP-3, pre-wired, so I can hopefully install it myself. I want the knob functions to be the same as my NS-4H2. I'll be selling the BQC if I go through with it, if anyone wants to give that pre a try.

I've bought and installed 2 aggie pres. One was "pre-wired" from best bass gear. The "pre-wired" option wasn't really worth the extra money or time. They will wire the tone knobs-that's it, that's the easiest part.

You might as well get a tech to install it in your bass or do it yourself.

I really like the aggie pres.

The aggie was the best thing I've done for my Euro. But... might put in a Haz 9v some day.

Well got me a tone hammer on order, hope I like it but won't know till I try it. It will be replacing my tc rh450 which was a great head but I got to try this th and see what all the hype is about. Reviews to come....

You would probably need a bigger head stock if you want to do that :) If you notice, the head stock on that Zon is much bigger so it can accommodate all of the Xtenders.

This probably seems like a tiny little amp compared to some of the big rigs you guys are running but I just picked up one of these. It looks like a really cool amp and I am obsessed with the tone Nick Beggs gets with his Euron on that Steven Wilson Blu-Ray from Mexico. Plus, they are giving me the foot pedal for free which is normally $150 so I couldn't pass that deal up.

NICE! I played jnumme's TC Electronics and I must say its very impressive. If I'd the $$ when it went up FS I'd bought it. Great snag John!:bassist:

After hearing Omer's Rush cover the other day, watching the Rush HoF induction performance, and all this talk of the 'awesomeness' that is the older 9v pre, SAS has set in something awful! I'm going to push my next US BO build back and start saving for a Brooklyn/Kramer era NS-2 with a thinner neck profile!! :D

Hey guys, so I've come to the conclusion that the Aguilar OBP-3 is my favorite preamp of the ones I have tried. I'm thinking about pulling the EMG BQC and replacing it. My questions are:

1) does anyone know how the OBP-3 sounds with EMG PJ pups in a EURO?
2) I've never tried a Spector pre, how does the US18V sound with EMG PJs?

They are about the same cost, so I need to figure out pros and cons of each.

I've not tried the USA 18V but I have used the OBP 3 with P/J's in my Forte 5 and fell in love with how adjustable it is. I love being able to adjust the mids. To my ears, it makes a world of differences. :)

Here's a couple of examples of what some retailers are calling "black and teal" for Spectors. Really confusing. If anyone knows of a TB member that actually has a black and teal bass picture I'd love to see it.

Yes, it the OBP 3 is great! I put one in my Modulus bass and it helped it a lot. It really needed some help in the mids. It made me like it again.

I put the OBP 2 in my NS2a. I didn't choose the OBP3 because I didn't want to change the look of the classic spector knobs. :hiding:

It works quite well in that bass though.:bassist:

Great idea!!

Hope I won't regret selling the rh450. But the good is I can always buy another one I guess

I would wait and A/B both. Two totally different amps, I like the TC much better tone wise but it's always nice to compare amps side by side.
