Well, looks like that old Brooklyn NS-2 from ebay is coming my way!
I'm going to restore it with the period correct Dimarzio P/J pickups, Active/passive and Phase switch and hopefully a US 9V. Cosmetically I'll keep it as is and put some more gig miles on it.
Cool thing is that seeing as though the pickups and pre won't be original to the bass, I can do some experimenting. The US 9v isn't always available so I may try it out with an Aguilar pre and maybe even a tone pump at some point. I'll try the Dimarzio's but I can always toss in some EMG's for that kind of tone.
Should be fun!

Yes! It's actually a naturally occurring grain pattern that is part of tube quilt.
Both of my tube-quilt basses, The Black Pearl and The Blue Dream, have pronounced wave patterns running 90 degrees from the "tubes" or "waves" of the quilt.
Which makes them even more beautiful when you get close to them and inspect them.
