Just to add on to Phat’s comment.

When you are using Active EMG Pickups and Preamp circuits they spec that they can be used at 18Vs.

Aguilar in their Preamp diagrams also spec that they can be used at 18Vs.

We know that Active EMG Pickups and a regular newer Tonepump can used at 18Vs.

Remember, Phat has noted that there were older Tonepumps that already had an internal voltage doubler, thus running it with the 18v mod would cause problems.

I don't think its worth the risk to try a Tonepump Jr. with SSD passive pickups to be wired at 18v's

Cool! I've a used set of GHS black nylon tape wounds that were on my Forte 5 that I'm thinking of putting on my Coda 5XL or NS-2000/5...

I'm rocking some LaBella flats here. I don't know if it's because it's a Spector but the flatwounds still have a bright attack to them, especially if I dig in at the bridge. It's like a Spector on some kind of mild anxiety medication now.

Still cuts through a mix like a bastard. :bassist:

Question: What's better than a Forte?

I never get tired of looking at those quality Fortes. Love, love, love that matte orange... :bassist: And that black ain't no slouch either!

So at 2:00pm Tuesday I get a FaceBook posting notice from our bands leader,"We just got asked to perform a few songs for a Baccalaureate tonight at 7pm, rehearsal at 6pm." So I said I'll be there. Show up at 5:30pm to setup, KB, Lead vocal, 3 backup singers, and our lead vocal. No drummer or guitars.:scowl: Ran thru 6 songs...a bit sketchy :rollno:
7pm, TO WAR! Very thankful for the tonal palette with my Coda 5XL! Since our 2 guitars were MIA, I decided to cut bass a bit and turn up treble a tad more, hoping to spice up the tone some. It all came together just great... Unbelievably! :bassist: I received several hugs and thank you's from mothers that had graduates there, for filling in at the last moment and sounding so fantastic. YES! Spector scores another! :hyper: As it happened... Another band cancelled out the night before. :ninja: It was a lot of fun playing for a bunch of graduating Seniors...they deserved to have a band playing for their special day. :)

Way to go Ice! TO WAR. That's a great story.

Hey guys, I apologize in advance for the SHAMELESS Facebook "like" plug. :)

But, if you're on Facebook and interested in updates for my new original band "The Shallowz" please give a like. The page is pretty sparse right now but we're looking to upload a bunch of pics, video, etc. soon. Thanks for you support!

Awesome ! Glad someone here got it. I was watching it. Im surprised it didnt go for more.

Thanks man! Yeah I was actually pretty surprised it didn't go for more too.

I've been emailing back and forth a bit with PJ, and he's been super helpful.

He's not sure if the new US 9v will be compatible with the 2 switches for active/passive and the phase switch.

After looking at the wiring and the layout of the US 9v, I'm not sure it would work either. The fact that the US 9v is circuit board mounted kind of complicates things a bit.

I may end up just having the two switches stay non operational, which is OK with me. I did like the idea of an active passive switch but no biggie.

That just leaves me debating between going with the original Dimarzio Pickups OR going with the tried and true EMG's which I like.

I'll keep you guys posted!
