The first thing he said to me was " I'm not gonna be able to play again you under stand this passion Jody " and I told him don't worry about that right now you could be dead. and in humor I said Sh!@ you can still play Bass...lol But anyways thank you fellas I told him you guys were sending him good vibes.

Exactly. That he's still alive is all that's really important.

I say, prop him him up, give him some vicodin, and put a that Forte in his hands. :D Hell, even with a just a thumb, a ring and a pinky, he could probably run circles around a lot of bass players out there in no time! :bassist:

In all seriousness, I really am glad that he's still there to joke with. I lost a good buddy suddenly a couple years ago and it's one of the things that I miss most (that he's not there to sit around and shoot the **** with us on a Friday night).

Here's to a rapid recovery!

I shipped on Tuesday afternoon and it was there Wednesday. I've never had nothing but great service in both directions from UPS and it's why I continue to use them as my prefered carrier.


Neck is much thicker than I expected. Just like the stolen Coda I found in the pawn shop a while back. Much thicker than my Euro's and Kramer NS2. Very similar to my Steinberger XL2. I don't mind it though.
Can't really comment on the OBP-2 yet, but it sounds good in my practice room. Will probably bump it up to 18 volts eventually (more for the EMG's).
Oddly, they were supposed to send an extra B-E-A-D nut as I planned to set this one up for C standard. Even though the bass showed up with E-A-D-G strings on it, the larger grooved nut is already on the bass with the extra nut looking to be the regular one. :confused: Weird.
But thats OK as I don't have to switch them out now.
Was able to drop the action significantly and it still doesn't really buzz. The C standard (C-F-Bb-Eb with .120, .100, .080 and .065 strings) at 34" seems to be working just fine.
These junky Dunlop straplocks gotta' go. Schallers all the way.

Mine was sent using UPS, the site says that its still out for delivery and I keep checking out the window with each passing car and truck! I leave for practice at 6:30 so I hope it arrives in time so I can give it a good test drive....

My new Bass Day has happened, it just rolled in off of the UPS truck and the only thing that was wrong is the 9 volt battery came lose....just played a song and packed it up for practice to show the band.

Ladies and Gentleman allow me to introduce to you my very first American made Spector NS2 #813....and it's puuurrrrple! lol

Awesome! I have had the 9v come off on several shippments. The first time it took me a while to find out why I had no signal. lol

More...
Couple of small things first.
You would think on a bass that's going for the "None Mo' Black" asthetic, they would have went with black pickup screws. They are available, and the chrome ones stick out like a sore thumb. :hmm:

The bridge countersink needs to be raised by about 1/8".
This wasn't an issue with the old bridges, but with the new intonation screws it's almost impossible to adjust the middle two saddles without maring the body since the arc of the wood is at it's highest there and partially obscures the two screw heads (guess what I "almost" did :scowl:).

After trying it at 9 volts I've bumped it up to 18 volts and.....
....well, not much better.
Compared to my Euro4 running a trim Tone Pump (trim 50%, treble 1/4 up, bass 2/3 up), this OBP-2 at it's flat setting is somewhat dull with less output (both sets of EMG PJ's are set identically).
Same as compared to my Legend 6 that has DC's but also a trim Tone Pump run the same except the trim is only up to about 35%.

The only way the OBP-2 sounds close is to run both the treble and bass up about 50-60% from the center detents.
But even though, both the Euro and the Legend with the TP's have much more open, pleasing tone.

Anybody else able to compare these two pre's?
I'll reserve final judgement untill I get a few gigs under her belt, but it's very likely I may be getting another trim Tone Pump.

However, physically, this bass plays like a dream. :D

PS. Got my Schallers on it and did my normal repositioning of the bottom peg.
Ahhh.....much better now. :p:smug:

Interestly enough I kinda have the same sediments on the tone issue. I'm mainly a pick player and find the trim pot pump more pleasing to my ear. Now I have a forte and a euro . And recently picked up another trim pot pump from a fellow Spector brother and I am seriously considering dropping it in my forte and shelve the Obp-2 .
