SPECTOR® Club - Part 62

I see that in order to get the most out of my Rebop, I am going to have to upgrade my rig. I need at least 300 watts. Ideally, a power combo like my old Markbass CMP121P would do the trick although a true rig would be better. I played through an Ampeg stack at the Nadhville GC and people came out of everywhere to see what bass was sounding so good.

The Aguilar TH's play well with Spectors also!:)

Hey guys!
So i just got a Darkglass B7k. I'm having mixed feelings about it. Not sure if i just need to give it more time, but as of now...i'm going to sell it. I definitely like it better than a Sansamp, but i just get WAY better direct tones with my Axe Fx. Here is an A/B comparison of the two. Sorry for the sloppy playing and the riffs. I just threw it together pretty quickly.

I can honestly say this is a series where I would feel no shame losing to Boston. They might not be as flashy as some of the Hawks players but they just get the job done on defense. Game 2 and 3 made me understand what happened to the Penguins.

Just think how different these finals could have been if Detroit could have pulled one more win, or the Leafs hung on. We might have saw a rematch of 2008 and 2009.

I had no shame losing to Boston, they totally outplayed us on both sides of the red line. This is gonna be a great series.

The Axe is definitely better here. I think the Darkglass stuff tends to better for live stuff.

For instance, I just picked up the Vintage Microtubes, and compared to the Sansamp RPM, I like the RPM better direct into my board for that Tom Sawyer type of sound. But at rehearsal today it sounds better to me through the rig.

I know I keep saying this, but I really need to spend more time with my Axe-Fx II and my bass. Your sounds are always great from that - I am just not a very accomplished tweaker.

I've never been great at describing with words what pleases my ears. I honestly think the average listener would be hard pressed to hear a difference. By average listener I mean the musical consumer. Having said that, I actually prefer the Fx. This despite having a strong bias in favor of the Darkglass(I did some recording with a b3k that Lee was kind to lend, and I loved it) In this case the Fx sounds more"focused". If you already own the Fx and can get the tones then, it would seem, the b7k would be redundant at best. If you decide to sell the b7k it will be easy to do so.

Im a B3k fan, but to my ears in your clips the axe fx sounds fuller.

b7k sounds more organic and less processed and allows more natural bass to shine through....my opinion

Well guys keep your fingers crossed, im hoping baby #2 comes today, we are alittle overdue but anxious to meet the new little one. We are hoping to go natural again and no we dont know what we are having. Its like someone is sending you a Spector but didnt tell you what it is.:D :hyper: Ive got my little drummer on board already or as he likes to call it Sticks, now I need someone to tickle some Ivory and I'll be all set, id settle for a Fiddler though as well. Just thought id share a peek into my personal life, i really only ever talk to you guys about the Spectors, but some of you in here feel like extended family. ~Eric~

That's great Eric, prayers go out for a healthy little piano player....

Best of luck (hopefully) today! Those little ones tend to turn up only when they're good and ready in my experience :D And a tip that I always share for dads-to-be (maybe you already know this from Sticks) but bring a sweatshirt and wear comfortable shoes. I learned that moms do not take kindly to you complaining about how much your feet hurt after the delivery :rollno::D:hiding:
