I have a TonePump pre just in case this one doesnt sound like it should, and a vintage Dimarzio precision pickup on the way.

My old Brooklyn should be back in action soon!

That looks very close to the HAZ that's in my NS2a, hope it sets up nice and makes a great sound for you!

So one of our roadies just bought this Spector off of CL. i might end up with it, he said he doesn't like the "smaller body" lol. I think its an older Performer-4... its got cheaper hardware, SSD pups but the top wood is pretty gorgeous.

Looks to be almost exactly the same preamp I have, its got a volume and blend which was unusual, but I've seen pictures of these preamps come from Kramer Forum, NS-2O, and NS-2A basses.

First and foremost, I am in this club. I have 2 NS2000/4s and a NS5CRFM 5 string fretless. My question is this:

How common or rare is a Fretless Spector Euro? I haven't seen too many, and when I did, I bought it. Are they special order only, or do they crank a few out here and there like the ripoff company, Warwick does? I was (am) on the fence about getting rid of my 5 string fretless because I don't play it much, but I don't want to regret it. I do love it. Anyone here have a fretless Spector?

Yup, it sure looks like a HAZ copy to me. Funny enough I found it on ebay and there was no mention of it being a mighty mite or HAZ copy, and I had to buy it as a package along with some pickups.

Hopefully it works out, but like I said I'm not sure if mighty mite made any variations in the pre for other companies, I doubt it, but couldn't find any evidence in my research, so I have a TonePump coming as well, just in case.

On her second set of frets, and the lovely red Schaller tuners were installed in 1993 or 1994 courtesy of The Scorpions guitar tech while on tour as a support band on the Scorps / Alice Cooper tour.
Been lost, found, dropped, used as a crowd control device, stolen (and recovered) twice and seen things that no bass should see, but it plays and sounds like no other bass I've owned in 30 years of playing bass and I've owned dozens of Spectors, Warwicks, MTD basses, and a couple of USA Fender basses plus tons more.
Just chiming in, even with all of these gorgeous USA Spectors here, I still think she's a beauty.

I also have a 1987 no serial NS2a and it will be with me forever and its been with me for over 21 years....

I don't know about your bass Torn, but my old girl sounds better than any other NS2A I have ever played, and I've owned at least a dozen more of them, from the Kramer NS serial # models to the Samick era basses. I was always buying them looking for another like mine, but never did. It's also as stable as any graphite neck bass I have owned, I have literally taken this bass from an evening outdoor gig in the rain to a festival gig in 100 degree heat in the span of a week and never touched the truss rod. I've owned many "nicer" basses but none that mean as much to me.

Mine holds a tune like nothing else, if its a little sharp just rub the strings a little and even when I gave it a break for a few years I pulled it out from under the bed and it was still in tune...stays that way unless it got bumped of course. And all of my little scratches and chips just say that it has been played!

I don't know how many models were produced, but I haven't seen a ton of them out there. Actually I don't think I've ever actually seen anyone that owned one. That being said, I know that they can be special ordered (as Euros) and Bass Central usually has one or two in stock.
If you're thinking about resale value, I wouldn't imagine that it being fretless would fetch more money than a standard, unless of course you're looking for a used fretless five string Spector and are willing to pay more.
If you're worried about regretting letting it go, keep in mind that the option is still available if you would decide to buy another new.
