First, Rod, really sorry to see that damage. I hold my breath every time I open a bass that's been shipped to me and I've been very lucky so far.

With this Forte, that is way past ridiculous. That is getting close to claim or refund time IMO. Especially given Paypal's limited window of opportunity to make a claim. I really hope it doesn't come to that, but be sure to protect yourself (I know you will). :)

Well, UPS is sending it back to the shipper, and they (UPS) are claiming it was not packed adequately, but that's their fight.,
I've initiated the damage claim, but have no role in this anymore. The shipper told me today that they will take care of me once they get the bass back, so now I wait....
If I can't get my money back in a reasonable time I can always go thru my cc company and contest the charge. sigh....:thumbdown:

I was told by an ups employee at one of the stores that they can basically deny any insurance claim based on "inadequate packaging" if ups doesnt pack it themselves. Beware folks. Hope all that works out for you...

So just a few thoughts so far as the NS-6XL sets in to reality for me.

First, this is the bass I wanted 18 years ago when I custom ordered my Carvin 6, which was transparent red with abalone block inlays. Pretty snazzy at the time and dropping in EMG soapbars and a BT circuit made a big difference. If I could have ordered a bass like this back then, I would have worked two extra jobs to pay it off.

Second, it's made me realize I don't need to hang on to all my Euros. Those are all fantastic basses meant to be played, but I am going to be playing this one a lot. So in addition to the 6LX already listed, I will definitely be listing the black cherry 5LX soon. I feel weird giving up the bass I used on our debut record. It would the first time I no longer have a bass I used on a full album, but times change I guess.

Once I get the UV 5XL with the 9v and 40P5/40J, I need to do a lot of comparison between that, my 5XL with the 18v and 40P5/40DC and my Euro 435 P/J. If it goes the way I suspect it will, I will probably move the 435 as well.

And the toughest one will be the Webster. I've really gotten used to that bass as my main player since last summer, but the 6XL has the same neck profile and I like the US 18v better than the BQC, though I do like the mid-sweep. Might be some other stuff developing later this year that will give me more reason to move it.

So in a nutshell, if you think you might be interested in any of these basses, just shoot me a note.

It would be nice if HAZ and Spector would come out with the Mid control circuit that HAZ told me was in the future sometime. I miss the mid control also.

That's great about your sixer Bunk. And it's a good thing to want a good bass you no longer play to go to someone who will play it. Just be aware of sentimental value. If a bass has played an important role in your life be VERY sure you won't regret selling it in the future.

I have a Modulus that I no longer play since I bought my first Spector, but... I played that Quantum 5 A LOT for the first 17 years I owned it and I'll never sell that bass. It has a place of honor on my wall forever.

I guess all I'm saying is take it slow amigo. :D And enjoy that beautiful 6XL, it's sweet!

"Any amp worth it's salt has a sweepable mid control!"... :hiding: ...Who said that? ;)

I have the Aggie OBP-3 in my Euro and I love it but I never touch the mid control because I'm locked into either 400hz or 800hz. They're not the right frequencies for me. Now if Haz made a sweepable mid... well, now we're talking! :D

I hear ya. I have several basses staying with me for those reasons. My two Carvins wouldn't be worth a lot anyway and I went through a lot with those basses. My one remaining EBMM Stingray I got the week my dad passed in 2002 and it was my main player for close to a decade so again, not going anywhere.

The 5LX I like a lot, but I've only had it a few years, and it was still pretty new to me when I used it to record. I probably could have gotten an even better sound out of it but at the time I was still a Spector newb. Even though the record came out this year, I recorded the bass tracks over two years prior. I expect it won't take so long for our next album. :)

Oh, and I'll be waiting to see the pics of that UV 5XL when you get it. You said you went with gold hardware? No matter, I know it'll be gorgeous. I'm hoping I can get mine around Xmas time but you never know. ;)

My 5XL on order will be a walnut stain because I wanted the earth tone/wood color but that was before I saw the UV. After that I was hooked so I had to order my NS-2 in that. :bassist:

Yeah gold for me. With the BEM board I could always swap out to black if I wanted a change but we'll see.

I am not for earth tones at all usually, but that walnut stain, wow.

Yeah, that BEM completely changes things. Gold will rock.

I fell for the walnut stain as soon as Todd showed me his NS-2. Then I knew that's what I wanted. Again... it "spoke" to me.:D

As a matter of fact, let's look at that puppy again shall we? I never get tired of it. :D
