Submitting my entry to the club with my blue stain Euro 4 lx (EMG 18v pre, tuned BEAD) and spalted maple NS4-H2 (EMG 18v pre, DC pickups). You could say I like a pretty aggressive sound ;) I only discovered Spector fairly recently and I am completely hooked. The tone and playability are unreal. My only problem now is dealing with GAS over another. Looks like I am in the right place...

Here's a shot of each bass. Taken with my iphone so forgive the quality.

Welcome, I like the blue stain!

Beautiful!

Thanks Ice....

Cool thanks Rob. I have a U5 in my studio setup. I've been wondering about the Reddi for a long time. I assume you like it?

If you ever get a chance to check out a Jule Monique pre try it. I have had the Countryman, U5, Reddi, Radial and the Monique is my favorite. The Reddi is awesome also and pretty equal in quality and tone, I stayed with Jule due to being more versitile with eq and line out to a power amp. The sensitivity knob with the rectifier tube is pretty sweet.

Cool thanks for the info!

I received the new Spector Steel Formula 603 strings today.
Put them on all 4 of my Spectors and they sound & feel great.

They are a lower tension string with really nice fundamental low-mid growl.

Think of them like a feel of Hi-Beams with the tone of Lo-Riders.

And thank you to PJ and Patrick for using my NS-2 #800 as the bass on the 4 string package. :bassist::hyper:

You can order them from Spector directly but Bassstringsonline will be selling them also and are scheduled to get them in any day now.

It will probably be cheaper and faster to get them from Jason @ Bassstringsonline.com since he usually ships in stock strings the same day and is cheaper with shipping.

Dude! It was clear from the beginning of this project that your bass was the best fit for the feel and design I wanted for the cover... Originally I'd tried to talk PJ into letting me put his bass on the cover (it instead is on the back of the package). But he wanted a modern Woodstock model on it.

Your #800 just jumped off that design.

So thank you for agreeing to let me use it! :D

These new strings are really cool. I like the feel and the tone. But what I really like is the lower string tension.

It's easier to engage the frets. And since I have a light touch and play with an ultra-low action, they're really great for my playing style.

And I'm absolutely not trying to "push product". I will always stand by my belief that each of us is on our own journey and therefore what works for one person may be totally wrong for the next. It's up to each of us to figure out what we like.

-------------

I'm really happy you like the design Sam! Rock on!!!

Man I can't wait to get my hands on those strings - they sound like exactly what I want. PJ has a standing order from me for several 5-string sets and a few special order C strings for the 6XL.

I'll have to put my patient cap on. :)

You know, I just got it. I have only messed around at home, no recording yet. We are going back to the studio in early September, so it will get the true test then.

The Avalon sounds great, but I don't really care for the EQ presets on it. As such, I didn't mind the Reddi just having a level control, works fine for me. I'll keep you posted.
