Every used Spector bass I've purchased hadn't been played enough for too much wear. Especially the "new/old stock" NS-95 that I bought then sold. THAT was a keeper.

Every used Spector bass I've purchased hadn't been played enough for too much wear. Especially the "new/old stock" NS-95 that I bought then sold. THAT was a keeper.
Only the ones from '99 and 2000. Then they were Euros in 2001 and Euro LX's in 2004.
In a nutshell, the Czech's got inlays from '99 onward.
Lol that's what Brownie looked like pre fade. Amazed that bass has stayed mostly black.
Still loving this pair of 1st Gen Euros. After a long wait, I'll finally be making the switch to black hardware starting with getting the bridges plated black. As far as the tuners though, the same model Schallers in black are apparently a real pain to obtain from Germany via some stateside parts retailer, the name of which escapes me (I recall NOLAbass telling the tale for his burst Euro rebuild) which leads me to wonder if there's any tuners (Hipshot or Gotoh) that will retrofit the Schaller screwholes. Have any Euro owners here gone down this path?
I've gotta say Bob, you've had some killer basses from when I joined TB up until now. Whats in your Spector collection nowadays? I wish I had the $$ to pick up that unlined freless Blue 5er you had for sale for a while.
If I had $2500 and was looking for a bass, Id probably get that.
The SSD era spectors intrigue me.

Ok, so on average what does a used Spector NS4CRFM or NS5CRFM go for?
I'm going to second that motion. Those are such great basses for the money. I don't think there is another bass out there that can touch the ns-94/5 or ns2k4/5 for the bang for the buck. Ns2a's too but I haven't had the luxury of playing one of those.
You know how I know my ReBop's a keeper? It has dings & wear.
It even has 2 low frets in the upper upper register that have been worn almost flat. ^_^I liked the playability and tone of my NS-2000/5, but I didn't like the look. I want a true carved NS body.

A Spector run through a SVT with an 810 can also yield the same results.
I'll try this!Thanks for the words of wisdom everyone. I am in fact against firearms due to a horrific ordeal I went through as a teenager. Plus in Norway gun licenses and laws are extremely strict. I've been talking to the Police about what I saw, but I doubt anyone will be caught for it.
On a lighter note, I got to test out the Peavy MAX 115 last night and I admit it's a pretty decent amp. Huge but portable and has a ton of tone options. I played the entire practice with the master volume just over 1. It's pretty powerful
I believe 9 out of 10 times if it has the SS logo it will have the inlays. Heres my CRFM I bought from Donny, SS logo., Dot inlays. I believe that makes it an early 99 ?
You should be able to pick one up for around $1000.

I put some more time on the Kilo yesterday. I like the tone but it doesnt seem to have the out but of my GKs. Even the 800RB seems to have more power. I am currently only running one side of it so its not putting out any were near its 1000 watts. It 500 watts a side at 2ohms and Im running a 4ohm cab. I need to pick up a speakon so I can bridge it.
Or I can pick up 3 more 810 cabs and run 2 off each side.

Then get a Homelite chainsaw with a 36" bar and push button electric start.
Have the bar chrome plated.
Keep a pair of goggles and a butchers apron next to the bed.
Some on breaks in, slap on the goggles and apron, fire that sucker up and hit a light switch.
I will GUARANTEE you won't get robbed that night. And also NEVER get bothered again once the word gets out that you are a crazy goggle wearing - butcher apron having - chain saw wielding bass player.
And best part is, you'll only have to do it once. And it's even more effective if you're wearing stained thighty whities, work boots and a smile!

NICE! We need to see some more pics! You are absolutely correct that it's an enormous pain in the neck to source replacement Schaller M4s with those downturned screw holes. (As you're looking at the back of the neck with the body towards the floor, they're positioned at 6:00 or pointed down.)
Luckily, the Gotoh GB7s are about as close as a direct replacement as I've been able to find. They're inexpensive and easily sourced. There's the added bonus that those are the stock tuners on the US Spectors so you know the quality is there.
The one caveat is that the posts on the Gotohs are just a bit bigger so it is necessary to ream out the pegholes slightly. I wrote about this a few threads ago. Let me see if I can dig that up. I have a stupidly expensive reaming tool from stewmac that I'm happy to lend/ship out for my Spector brethren (or if you're local to the Boston area, just come over. This is about a two beer project.) The beers offset the ass-puckering feeling as you're carving into your Euro.

I hope to change that soon. I would like to get a fiver, but I just need to find one that doesn't weigh a ton.
