I have been very very lucky this year to be able to get two custom USA builds and I got them both from [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].
I recommend him very highly for your custom USA build, and for any of your spector needs (other music stuff too).
He stock all levels of Spector basses and whatever he doesn't have in stock he'll get for you, and at a very good price.

Very nice specs. BEAUTIFUL finish.
Here's a question, how close is the old Korean Hazlab copy soundwise to the US Spector 9V? Is a Tonepump closer? If you couldn't get the US and had a choice between the two which way would you go?
Personally I think the Korean copy of the US 9V is closer, some of the other guys might have soundclips that would better illustrate it I think.

For sure. Glad to talk you through it (and to drop the reamer into the mail whenever you're ready). It's not for the faint of heart but it's straight-forward. I realized after the fact that I probably should have practiced a bit with the tool before scrubbing in just to get a feel for it. I'd recommend drilling some holes in a piece of scrap wood just to practice before you cut loose on the Euro. I felt more comfortable with it by the end of the project (figures).
I'll definitely practice on some scrap first. Is it just a matter of aligning the reamer with the hole to make it a clean operation?
I would go with the Pump. Particularly for Rock. Definitely Tonepump if you play with a pick.
Most Korean HAZ clones are for use with passive pickups. You can still get great results using it with actives, but it can get harsh if you max the treble knob.

having not played the US 9v I would say the korean copy is a lot tamer than the tonepump. i prefer the tonepump.
Ok. So 2 votes for the Tonepump. I do have an NS2A with a Korean copy. I swapped out the stock pups because when I used a pick it sounded terrible. The EMG's sound much better in it but as was said above you definitely have to be careful with the treble control.
The reason I ask is I have a Euro 4 I'm putting back together and I already have a trim Tonepump for it but I know of a Korean Hazlab that I can get for cheap and was wondering which would get it closer to a US tone.

The photography is Todds work. He also put on higher tension strings and re-did the setup for me.
Todd and I hashed out the specs and Spector build the bass then sent it to Todd. Sorry.
I don't have a new bass to show, but I did just receive something that makes my weekend!
I pre-ordered the disc hoping to win the Spector give away, and when I opened the package it had the pick and autographed booklet. Pretty nice surprise!
Can't wait to play the CD and unleash Rex's Spector tone!
