Just threw the Rex 5 up locally to help fund the green Euro 5 thats on Ebay right now. Hopefully I get a bite, I'd love to pick that bass up.

Wow man, that is gorgeous!! I'm loving everything about my NS2! Adjusting to the Spector from my Rickenbacker has been seamless. There is a ton of head scratching when I pull it out of it's case since I normally pull one of my 6 Rickenbackers out. This Spector is quite a departure from what I normally play in both looks and tone. I am sort of wondering what a double J with Aguilar circuit would sound like!! Is there another Spector with that set up in my future?? Maybe!

The bridge and tuners arrived today. Man, the bridge is substantial!!

Sorry...I just meant when I had 2 Spector ReBops with non-trim TP vs a Euro with a TP that I noticed quite the difference in tone. But with some tweaking I know you can get that tone back that you're looking for.

Are you noticing much tone difference between your BEM & Pau Ferro? I know "They" say that Pau Ferro is warmer sounding and BEM is brighter but...what do you say?

I agree that the Pau Ferro has warmth with increased midrange focus and depth, I also have the Ernie Ball Cobalt strings on this bass. The BEM is brighter with a high end depth, I have the DR Lo-Rider strings on this bass and the hexagonal core with stiffness work great and are a great match with the board.

I listened to a recording of an NS2 fretless, sounded fantastic...you are a very lucky guy! Is this the same bass you said that you wanted to sell????

I have to agree with you on that Torn & it plays amazingly well too. It has the thinnest neck of all my Spectors. The bass fell in my lap many years ago for a great price when Spectors were flying under the radar. I was looking to sell it, but changed my mind after I picked up some kirtan gigs & reconnected with it. There's a bunch of guys who have expressed interest in it, but for now I'm keeping it. Unless someone wants to trade a Kramer era 5 string for it, then I might part ways with it.

Hey guys, this might have been mentioned before, but if so, I missed it. Where can you get a brass nut for a 5 String Spector Legend? I'm starting to dial in my Legend with Tonepump and I'm hoping a brass nut will give me that little bit extra. It still doesn't sound as good as my NS2A, but closer. I see bridges on the Spector site, but no nuts. Thanks for any info.....

what bass is this? what pups were in there originally? when you switched to the TP tone pump, did you get all new pots as well or just the pre?

you can always change to value of the treble pot with a resistor to get you what you like as well.

It is a Spector Euro 4-LX, with the usual EMG PJ. It is one hell of a Bass.

So yesterday I swapped the tonepump again against the old non-trim one, made soundfiles and this morning reinstalled the trim tp and made sound files. The sound difference is there but miniscule. So maybe it is indeed the pots. Since I took them all out I will now check their values and report back.

I am slowly becoming a solder maestro.

Thanks...she was singing with us as well. But just as we were packing our band equipment the benefit ended up rescheduled due to Winter Storms dumping 14" of snow last night and still falling. A bit of relief and rest for me.

Thanks Patrick! I'll have to get some of those. Right now I've been using an ancient Native American remedy, boiling fresh tender cedar tree branches into a tea. MEGA vitamin C. It usually kicks the cold within 2 days. I've used this remedy before for myself & my wife as well as friends. Works great. It's been atleast 4 years since I've had a cold. I will buy some AirBorne chews though.

I wonder how many fretless were made back then? Bet not many.

Mixing raw honey with a few table spoons of natural apple cider vinegar and cinnamon warm works wonders. Once or twice and it Usually kicks a cold in a day or 2. Works amazingly well.

Dickhead designs makes them for a lot of people here. Good quality, inexpensive and the proceeds go to charity. I haven't heard anything but good about his work and turn time. Can be a little hard to get a hold of though.

I think you can go down but not up on the pot value by adding a resistor. There's a couple of things to try. That's the rub of adding Emg's to the ns2a circuit. The pots are different values and they can be too bright on the high end.

We chased down a white 1986 NS2 fretless that wound up being a Brooklyn (serial 1033 and the last Brooklyn was 1187), what serial is on your 1989?

This one is a single drop down to whatever you have tuned it down to with the screw. The webpage for Hipshot say there is an upgrade lever to give double stop but I didn't get that. Maybe later.

BTW... They say that the double stop lever allows dropping of the E all the way to B.

Tried it once not expecting much, and I swear by it now. My kids and friends who have tried it do too. The thick raw honey and vinegar with the mother work the best. Doesn't taste half bad either.

I have one on my dougie. It works great. I don't use it much though as we already tune to dropped c#.

Much better now! Now she looks as great as she sounds! I was thinking of keeping a little "bling". Perhaps when I change strings, I'll put the gold saddles in.

Oh for the record, there were slight cuts in the saddles to position the strings.
