Funny story about that. The serial number is actually wrong. It was stamped 2013 like one of Gene Fox's NS-2s that looks a lot like mine. It's actually 2104. PJ said they even picked up on it. Here's a side by side of the 2 basses. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1387301368.503451.jpg

No way were they from wear. I've only had the bass for two weeks and they are nickel strings. They were definitely cut and not worn. Very slight but enough for me to catch my finger nail in the groove.

Hmmm... interesting. Not sure how useful a very slight groove would be when holding bass strings but that not my call. ;)

Looks like I might be picking up the Green Euro 5 on Ebay after all. Messaged the seller about Canada shipping, and he said he'll get me a quote. Asked me what I would prefer between the three so I figured I'd ask here to see what other people have experienced with the companies. My choices are: UPS,FEDEX, OR USPS.

I went Fedex with my Rex 5 and it got here in great shape, just figured I'd ask.

Never shipped a bass to Canada, but I have bought and sold a lot of hockey gear and have always used USPS to ship there just based on brokerage fees and duty on the other side of the border. FedEx or UPS will charge you an arm and a leg for that.

I prefer Fedex Ground but that's just a personal preference. I had a horrible experience with USPS last summer. Their "tracking" is a joke. My bass disappeared into the great void of the USPS system for almost five weeks with parcel post. Basically, they scan it when it goes into their system, and again when it arrives on your doorstep, which is not particularly helpful. UPS and Fedex may not be any more careful with it but at least you'll know where it is. :rollno:

Yeah, USPS is pretty lame. I only use it for small, light packages shipped CONUS.

Update on my ReBop situation.
My tech has informed me that he cannot do the repair for under the price of a new neck. :(
What he is willing to do though is not charge me for opening the neck up & he'll walk me through repairing my neck.

So, I've ordered a 25" dual action truss rod from AllParts & am awaiting its arrival. Once it arrives, I'll be taking my time to make sure I do everything right & get that neck glued back down solid with the new rod in place. ^_^

*fingers crossed* I should be back up & running mid-January?

From PJ Rubal when I asked about saddle slots,

"there are no stupid questions

correct, slots are cut into the bridge when the bass is set up at our shop. so you can have a repair guy local to you do this for you.
you could use it without slots but I think the saddles would get in between the string windings and cause a string problem."
